Can you see the cable going to the solenoid which is behind the black plastic housing if you have 240 to there then its the gas valve gone down

make sure auto air vent is open

It may be dripping inside the boiler and when the flames are on they eveporate the water so its a long shot but it does happen and why not try some internal leak sealer worth a dry before anything drastic

really so like the one i took out recently it might be letting a small flow through and the gravity circs are fine when c/h is on but when h/w only it bangs and clanks but with both on h/w is ok but heat is rubbish they drive you crazy some old systems

could it be fitted away from the back boiler normally within a few feet arent they but maybe its fitted upstairs as you say with it all drops

I looked for that first as i had that proplem last month no anti grav valve in there

close upstairs and see if downstairs heat up

Just make sure the gas valve button is pulled out not stuck in when you lit pilot

Mickyg would this be causing 24i worcster to fail to ignite most nights around 6-8 when gas is at its peak time the governor might be knackered,i apologise if i dismissed your reply before i will write this in my boiler book it will come in handy i bet

you do now but did you have it changed to a fully pumped,did you have gravity circs before did u have mzv 3 port or 2 port

Did u have gravity circs then get it all to a fully pumped system

Can you close gate valve then as the reason the rad is off the circs is to allow acsess heat somewere to go so the bathroom rad was the one,if you close the gate valve then unless the rad valves are stuck and no air in it it should be roasting

It wont be the gas metre it will be the boiler so it could be (1) poor spark or may not work all the time (2) blocked gas injector not allowing enough gas through

THE loud boom is the build upm of gas when its clicking its sparking but its not good enough to light the gas then when it fills with gas it will ignite thats the boom you will be hearing i think so anyway

Is it on the pipework co,ming off the cylinder were there top and bottom connections just close it a bit,and see if it allows the heat through to rad
