Removing a wall in the barn

I have a pen inside my barn that I would like to remove. I have attached a couple of pictures showing the wall. Is that likely a complete concrete wall, or perhaps bricks or blocks with a concrete rendering? What would be the best way to remove? SDS hammer drill, Jack hammer etc.?

    New flooring in barn loft

Great. I'll have to learn how to do some calculations to ensure it will support 10,000kg of hay.

    New flooring in barn loft

This seems like a nice and quick solution. If there aren't enough joists to secure the boards, I assume I would need to add some more joists?

    New flooring in barn loft

Just to clarify this space will not be habitable and we will use it for hay storage. I'll make some measurements later.

    New flooring in barn loft

Hello, I recently bought a house that has an attached barn. The area in the picture was historically used for storing hay, and we also want to use this area for storing hay. Around 500 20kg bales = 10,000kg. Green line: Top of an internal wall Blue lines: Top of an internal wall Purple lines...

Repairing/replacing/covering a lath and plaster ceiling

Ok, I think this is also what @Wayners was suggesting. Previously this was a sitting room with a wood burner, so there would not have been any moisture in the air. But as we are converting to a kitchen, this is a good tip, thanks.

Repairing/replacing/covering a lath and plaster ceiling

There is a wood burning stove in the room so I think it was too keep the room extra cozy and warm. There are signs of wood worm elsewhere in the property, however we are redoing the electrics and can check this by lifting the floor boards above What is vcl?

Repairing/replacing/covering a lath and plaster ceiling

Should have mentioned it's currently unoccupied, so if any time to make a mess, it's now. In the long term this room will likely be a kitchen, so having a false ceiling for spot lights and potentially the exhaust from the cooker will run from the inside to the outside wall

Repairing/replacing/covering a lath and plaster ceiling

We recently bought a house, currently unoccupied, and we just removed the wooden ceiling in one room to reveal a layer of insulation, and under that a damaged lath and plaster ceiling: There are quite a few spots where the ceiling is damaged. I assume the damage occured before they put up...

    Cold bathroom before new installation

I don't remember seeing a controller during the viewings. You set the radiator to 3 and the room should heat to 20C.

    Cold bathroom before new installation

No the only thermostats are on the radiator valves. Ok if I turn off the water at the stopcock, that shouldn't have any effect on the heating system because it is a closed system, right?

    Cold bathroom before new installation

The hot water boiler is actually in the bathroom. There is no hot water tank. We have 2 boilers. One for the radiators, and another for hot water. You can see the hot water boiler in the attached pic. The heating boiler is from '96 and there is no program.

    Cold bathroom before new installation

We are having a new bathroom installed in our unoccupied house, and just finished demolishing the old bathroom. This includes removing the ceiling which exposed the roof. It's cold in the room now and I don't really want to leave the heating on in this room. There is a hot water boiler and the...

Ha, If that is required, I would certainly ask a professional or ask my father in law who has soldering experience.

How to repair zinc gutter seal?

There is a leak where 2 pieces of horizontal zinc guttering connect. The soldered/welded connection seems to be broken. How can I repair this? Is something like gorilla tape an option?

Unoccupied property over winter. Drain system and heating off, or heating on at 15C?

Hello, I am selling my late mother's house and it will be unoccupied for a few months. The insurer has given me the option to either: - drain the system and turn off the water - keep the heating on at 15C Regardless, someone should visit the property weekly (a neighbour has agreed to this)...
