    colour is down to personal preference. warm white is the nearest to traditional lighting, daylight is whiter and shows colours better but is too harsh for some people. cool white is very blue looking and to me looks very stark. we have warm white in the kitchen and daylight in the bathrooms.

    leave the s/fcu in place and install the dimmer switch next to it. it's wired off the sockets and needs fusing down.

    you would be better to lay a conduit with a draw string in it, then the electrician can lay the correct size cable when the time comes. if you bury a cable there's no way to tell if it has suffered damage. i would not be happy working with a cable i had not seen being buried.

    it sits on the front of the box. you screw it to the box with the outer holes and the tabs stop it being pulled in to the box then the face plate has the outer screw hole to screw into to fix it.

    the freaky thing in pic 4 is a buckle clip. it's what you used to use to attach cables to walls etc before cable clips were invented. they are still available from some suppliers.
