    if you have to pass through another room to get to an exit you need a smoke alarm in that room. are the smoke alarms you have now hard wired or battery? if battery you need to replace them with interlinked hard wired ones. these are recommended http://www.aico.co.uk/

    don't try to cut all the way through at once. cut one core then move the snips forward and cut the cpc then the last core.

    if the wall that the switch is on is not perfectly flat, the switch can have a slight twist to it when screwed back. try loosening it off a bit and see if it works better.

    Electric we have, mobile signals can be problematic and our internet is not much better than dial up, but that's a small price to pay when you live in a beautiful area with great views and the nearest neighbour 3/4 of a mile away. :D
