    Plasterboard underlay?

I've been Googling this question all day but seem to get conflicting info. Would it be OK to put a layer of 12.5mm PB on top of an old wooden T&G floor and then screw a new T&G floor on the top. This would cover the badly damaged (but now leveled) old T&G floor, cheaply raise the floor to...

NO Belt Floor Sanders for hire in the North East!!!

Well sanding has begun with the little 4" Clarkie  it took a full long day to do the initial 40 grit sanding then a few hours the next day for the 80 grit. Just waiting on the filler resin arriving then will do the final 120 grit sand. HARD WORK  but looking v good so far...

    Thermostatic Cartridge faulty or not?

Well I had a rite mess on buying & fitting pressure reducing valves as the seller demanded I try before they'd send out a replacement etc. So in the end they finally sent out a new cartridge and what a surprise the shower worked. They refunded me the deposit for the replacement cartridge but...

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

I thought I'd see what the natural light grey colour looked like in the kitchen first, then if I didn't like it I could just stain it. Rather than dying it dark to start with and then not having the option to change or lighten the colour/shade if I fancied it. To be honest I'm just...

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

Yeh I phoned around all of the local builders yards one morning I couldn't get any small gravel so I did consider using fish gravel as I had some in the loft. But I didn't have enough, plus I wanted to get it poured that day so I just used the pea gravel I had in the yard. Caused problems but...

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

Yeh the 18mm PLY base boards just become part of the counter. Yes the edges extend 40mm past the base board. So will be aprox 20mm past the finnished door/drawer fronts. If you look at my first pic of the mold I simply screwed a melamine wall onto the side in 2 pieces. Filled bottom piece...

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

Thanks for that, sounds quite promising. Wonder if its food safe etc? I'll have to do some research on it. Still looking for more suggestions on Stains & Sealers if anyone has them :)

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

There really isn't any problem with the rads, it's a very warm room. I'm just after some decent stain & sealers for the worktop available in the UK, such as a non water based acrylic or maybe a Urethane based sealer if possible. I've been Googling for days but can't seem to find anything like...

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

Theres some big Bifold doors in there but they were added to the calcs. The rads been running by it's self for a couple of weeks and seems good so should be even warmer once the other rad is up

The rad is there because there is almost no free wall space in that room what so ever. There will be another (cast iron) rad on the one free bit of wall in the room as well as that one hidden under the bench to give the correct BTU.

Cheers for that, they do a finishing wax that looks quite good. :) I'm really struggling to find a decent acrylic or urethane sealer though. Also need a good stain.

    Anyone else tried Concrete Worktops?

I had a go at casting a concrete worktop and so far I'm happy with the results. Here's the mold nearly ready: [/img] And here it is so far (I will be making a cover for the back to hide the rad etc): I've gave it an initial sanding with 120 grit and am just waiting on my diamond...

NO Belt Floor Sanders for hire in the North East!!!

Well absolutely no luck what so ever on hiring a proper belt floor sander so I'm going for it with a hand held. I've got a little 4" Clarke CBS2 Contractor Belt Sander, so I'm expecting a few days of sweating & swearing!

NO Belt Floor Sanders for hire in the North East!!!

Turns out I had already tried Brandon but forgot lol I've just emailed Birtley but I'm not holding my breath as nowhere seems to do them  Think I'll also start looking for a decent hand held belt sander tomorrow and rake out the knee pads and Ralgex!
