    Knocking off K Rend

Builder employed a poor applicator who just did a shoddy job. I've just had to google EWI to be honest. Can you suggest a particular brand/system for me to take a look at which you think could cover our poor TC 15? Apparently, we can only either apply more TC 15 over what's been done (which...

    Knocking off K Rend

Many thanks for the reply. It does go round the corners of the house and part way down the side but it all needs to come off. It's about 70m2 in total.

    Knocking off K Rend

We've had a really poor application of K Rend TC 15 on a HPX base coat to the front of our house and we'd like another applicator to do the job all over again. Is it possible to knock off what's been done or not? Many thanks!

Move Soil Vent Pipe from inside to outside?

Take your point on board. On the inside, we have to see it every day. On the outside, we only have to see it for one maybe two days in the British Summer when sitting outside. :( We do know someone who's internal svp leaked and caused a load of damage not to mention the stink! Thanks...

Move Soil Vent Pipe from inside to outside?

Hi, We are just about to replace our kitchen that has the SVP currently running through it so it needs very unsightly boxing around it. Would it be good practice to change it to outside at this point? I'm just thinking that once the kitchen is done and it's all boxed in, if there are any...

    Lead Gas Pipe

Thanks Dan. Do you know if BG will do the job? Only, I've read some posts that suggest they won't?

    Lead Gas Pipe

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible and legal to repair a pin hole in an internal lead gas pipe? It came to light when a nail which has been there forever was removed! The gas company have shut the gas off currently. Had a company out today who have told us all of the internal lead...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

Just to complete this topic, I was wrong when I said I thought it was working - it wasn't. Made a complaint to BG about the original piping not having an ABV and a senior engineer visited. They subsequently replaced what did prove to be a broken CH zone valve as well as replacing the gate...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

I know what you mean but BG should have fitted an ABV originally and we must be losing flow back to the boiler that should be going to the CH and/or HW circuit. Presumably there is no flow across an ABV whilst CH and/or HW need heat?

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

Breakthrough! (Hopefully!). I was recapping on what the BG engineer had altered when he replaced the pump. He altered the gate valve to the left in the picture above which appears to be a manual 'bypass'. This gate valve is in the pipe having the two zone valves just before it and joins...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

BG didn't fit it. A Glow-worm recommended installer did it who didn't know what they were doing. Adey's instructions state "best practice" is on the return after last rad but just before or after pump is"suitable". BG did the pipework you see in the picture. We did have a Grundfos 'Super...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

The more I learn from you guys and read about, I am beginning to think our pipework just isn't correct in the first place. We have no automatic bypass despite it being a requirement for the boiler and the regs but BG left a gate valve instead. It is also not placed before the zone valves as...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

True. As part of trying to find the issue, we've now established that the HW will ONLY heat if the boiler is actually timed to do it. If we advance the HW on, it just doesn't work. The eBus reference is just something I've spotted in the diagnostics menu and wondered if this had anything to do...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

Quite true Tony, the lever doesn't move and the lever is 'loose' when the valve is open.

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

Sorry Tony. I think it's my poor explanation. According to the inbuilt programmer for the boiler, it should be possible to press the mode button and to just switch on the HW whenever you need the water heating, say in the middle of the day after the kids have had baths and used it all! The...

Rate of increase in boiler flow temperature

Will suggest to BG that they replace with one seeing as they were paid by me to sort it all out in mid 2009 and the regs stated then that an automatic one should be fitted where the manufacturer stipulates a bypass is needed. There is another gate valve on the pipe that comes from the bottom...
