    Olive Puller

because the ball was put in one way and then just basically clipped in place... so it doesn't really matter when the valve is open... but when its closed the pressure (if the wrong way) /could/ blow the ball out/make it leak Or so I've been lead to belive, I may be wrong. :)

    ROGUE TRADERS

I got filmed once...(having bought some dodgy ex-company's numbers) I did my usual job found fault within 5 mins, fixed and boiler given it a quick once over within 20.... apoligized to the customer as I'd have to charge for the first hour @45 +VAT, as we charged per hour or any part hour, as...

    Fitting Monoblock Kitchen Tap

Not seen one but doesn't mean there isn't one. Nope, its just two check valves, in case one fails. Yep. Not that I can think of :P

problems with contral heating/ hot water controls

Expected that reply, if its right then why ask? It must be working perfectly. As electricity tends to flow through wires and not through magic, I'd be happier to belive faulty wiring then magical pixies *shrug*. Unless the programmer has gained psychic powers over the state of the...

Holiday - Water off, what about boiler?

It has safeguards against running dry. Turn the stopcock off and leave the boiler on. (I'm not sure if it has an inbuilt frost stat, check in your instructions) If it has a frost stat, leave the boiler on but with the heating switched off at the programmer, if it doesn't, turn the boiler stat...

    Rogue Traders

I actually got filmed once.. We'd brought up a bit of an iffy company's phone numbers.. Obv. I didn't rip them off.. Have you noticed once in a while its an obvious setup... the fine wire across the spark electrodes (which to my knowledge has /never/ happened)I know if I'd have had the same...

Warmflow CH & DHW heat exchanger/s

not up on that programmer, but its usually a jumper on the back of the programmer to switch it between gravity and fully pumped. Then Check the valves are both open on the rad, you could have a blockage on the flow valve.

Warmflow CH & DHW heat exchanger/s

Because its not plumbed up/wired up to allow it. (The programmer shouldn't allow it either, and has been set up incorrectly for a gravity system, if you tell me/us the model of your clock, we can advise on how to correct it.) How it works. Gravity system work by hot water being less dense...

    Disconnecting Sink From Mains Supply

I agree with Davey, I'd fit isolators (didn't mention it earlier because I couldn't be bothered to write it all out).

    Joint sealing

Normally jet-blue (with or without hemp depends), But I also use Gasseal or PTFE...it all depends on the joint, and what is going through it.. ease of access.. etc.

Vokera 24, slow pressure loss problem. help appreciated.

nope... the DHW is at a higher pressure... if there was a leak between the two the water would be going the other way ;) Half a bucket of water over 36 hours isn't a lot. Check all the boiler internals for any signs of water....any rust.. any unusual staining or crystal buildup... any...

Vokera 24, slow pressure loss problem. help appreciated.

depends on teh size of your system... about half a bucket? I'd check out the boiler internals for leaks before taking it any further

    no heating or hot water

No power to = not doing anything or tested 0V? Same with the boiler/clock? Because there should always be a live of some form at a 3way, it just doesn't do much if the only live wire happens to be dhw off. Points to faulty programmer, check for power out. If nothing has power then...

Radiator gets hot at top but cold at bottom

aye... take the head off and tap the pin with your spanner.. that'll free it up... (you may then need to close down the lockshield side a bit for the balancing)

    Which type of boiler?

not too keen on condensing boilers myself, but unless you have a case for Part L exemption.. it's a bit tough really.

Vokera 24, slow pressure loss problem. help appreciated.

It could be worse, yesterday I went to a job to fit a new oven&hob, and check out his heating system before he moved in. Check his heating first, condemn it, disconnect, tag and bag. Drop test - complete drop in less then 30 seconds. erk. found leak coming from round the pipe rising to...
