    lol I'd put money on this being the lighting circuit, i haven't read the whole thread but i've seen enough installations to take an educated guess. The lights dont necessarily need to be on to cause fault. check at each light fitting.

    Increasing lighting circuit MCB ampage

    After reading this topic, i cant believe that this light you have trips a 6a mcb. Personally i've never encountered a domestic light fitting to do this. You certainly shouldn't have to change from a type b mcb.

    Socket in Loft

    There could be a way around this. Perhaps use the lighting circuit and use a 5a point, then change the plug top to a round pin plug. Or, Use a labelled fused connection unit with 3a fuse, and socket taken from that. As far as i am aware this is within regs as it is labelled and fused down.
