electrician won't issue electrical installation cert -help?!

Becky The electrician who carried out the work should have a copy of the original Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC), as he is obliged to keep a record of all his work. "The person or persons responsible for the design, construction, inspection and testing of the installation shal...

    Worried about recent work done

Seems ok to me. The only thing I would question is the need for an RCD on the basement if none of the sockets can be used to supply equipement outdoors. PCs do have protection against mains spikes this does cause a small amount of current leakage to earth if as you say you have lots of PC...

    Customer and certification

This question gets asked a lot on here and just makes me wonder what's happening in my trade. If a competent electrician was genuinely taken ill half way through a job I feel sure his scheme would step in. A 3 part EIC could be issued with the first spark signing for design and...

    Shower cooking fuse?

There books and there's info in the wiki on this site BUT ...... The work required to sort your problem is best left to a professional for your own safety. Assuming the cable is the correct size for the shower rating and doesn't need replacing the cost of getting an electrician in will be...

4 core equivalent to 3 core?

Ask the builder. If you haven't got the means of testing don't assume the cores are wired correctly I've seen the black conductor used as neutral. But as stated they should be sleeved with appropriate colour to comply with regs.

    fishy business

We're not in a perfect world and a 45A 3036 fuse will take 100A for 10,000 secs ~3hours. According to BS7671. You need to ascertain the reason for the smell. Loose connection is more likely the cause unless you are cooking the fuse. I believe some of the older CUs had a limit of 30A...
