    You mean you are prepared to let a property to a tenant when you are aware of an electrical fault. Health & Safety also the 2003 Housing Act come into mind for a start. For the sake of one month's rent get it sorted!!!

    That should not make difference to operation of RCD Have you checked IR? Nuetral - Earth fault springs to mind.

    Extending cables

    Depends largely on how many conductors need extending. If it's only a few and joints will be in CU the through crimps are used. Otherwise it's DIN rail enclosure with din rail connectors

    Oh Dear! Oh Dear! Oh Dear! Amps, Volts & Watts are all dependent variables And if Ohm's Law is applied V= IxR So if V is reduced from 240 to 230 then current will decrease. to 64.8725 A (approximately)

    To be fair OP asked about soldering. And by the nature of his question it sounds like he has limited space which could be difficult getting the jaws of crimping tool in position to make an effective joint.

    Leave everything alone for moment and get the 'person' who fitted the shower back to do the job properly. I assume your Sister in Law got a receipt, Electrical Installation Certificate and building regulations complaince certificate

    not necessarily as back boxes could be drilled and tapped to take an earthing screw - your electrician will advise on the best option once he inspected and tested.

    CU Change under 17th

    Not my understanding of BS7671 for a CU change Chapter 74 brown book - haven't got the red book yet, as I'm working to 16th until June. There is no problem working to 17th before they become extant but the installation must comply with one or the other not some of one some of the other...
