Hi,
I've got quite a large loft space that at present is not really usable. It also needs insulating as there is precisely zero up there at the moment. I've had a loft specialist - if there is such a thing - give it the once over with a view to getting at least 270mm insulation up there and...
Hi,
I'm looking for a recommendation for a DIY alarm system. My wishlist is not particuarly extensive - easily programmable (wintex?), 1 x remote, proximity tags (maybe)....I think that's pretty much it. I will probably have no more than 5 or 6 zones.....
As always, advice appreciated....
THanks - found that. So there's no need to use a drum sander at all? Wow... I'll be getting the carpets up this weekend and I might even give it a go with my handheld orbital with different grits and see how it looks.....
Hi - they are standard 1930's pine boards. No stain and as far as I can tell they've been covered with carpet pretty much since the house was built.
From what I've seen (carpet is still down), they look to be in pretty good order.
Hi,
I'm about to start sanding the floorboards in my newly purchased house and I'm after a bit of advice....
I'm looking at hiring a floor sander for a week and get as much of the house done as possible.
Firstly, is the sander in the link the right one for the job? As far as I can see...
Interesting post....
I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that uPVC doors were better as they generally reduce draughts.
Composite doors, I assumed, had the beneits of the uPVC in terms of reduced draughts, but, as already mentioned, look a lot better.
Well it just seems everyone else had the forsight and diligence to recommend them. The house is being completely gutted so now would seem the obvious time to fit them.
Also, after doing a bit of digging, I'm not able to find any trail of this guy on the Internet. He reckons he's Part P...
We are have a full rewire done. All but one estimate have included 2 interlinked smoke detectors and a heat detector. The estimate we got from an electrician who actually came across really well didn't. So we're now in a dilemma wondering why he wouldn't include them as a matter of course. What...
OK -
I've worked out that I need 47000 btus to keep me warm. This, and the fact that we will be running a shower off the combi makes me think that an EcoTec Plus 831 would be preferable over the EcoTec Pro 28. Am I right?
I'm sure he is covering his ass, but it gives me some scope for requesting a reduction in the price of the house...
He basically says there's no evidence of a DPC, and even if it existed it would be breached as the pebbledash goes down to ground level.
There is visible evidence of...
Hi,
We're trying to finalise our budget for our new home "project". Our homebuyers report tells us there's no DPC on the property which doesn't massively concern me at the moment, but I'd like to have some idea of what kind of costs would be incurred should we decide to have one installed...
Firstly, I don't know why you think you have the right to make assumptions on how I make my living.... Secondly, your analogy is totally flawed... We are not talking about tasking 4 people from the same company with the same job... We are talking about a customer getting 3 -4 estimates from 3 -...
