acoustic dampening for a builtin tall freezer housing

hi I have a newly professionally fitted kitchen, one unit is a tall builtin freezer unit. we originally put an AEG freezer in it, but it was incredibly noisy, we were convinced it was dodgy, so it has just been swapped for a Liebherr, and the noise is still there. The noise is NOT the usual...

hudson reed vertical rad - missing flow baffle/diverter

just bought a hudson reed sloane vertical. supplier website clearly shows flow and return BOE. Rad even supplied with the plastic to-be-removed plugs in those positions. on inspection, there are no internal baffles in the pipe across the bottom. thus if fitted BOE (as most would do with a...

energy saving quest - how to trace < 300w background load

hmm ok thanks. for 20 quid I'll give it a shot then. I guess the best tool for the job is the electricity meter itself. however mine is a type with a digit readout only so no indication of realtime, which I assume I would get from a smart meter... have asked my energy supplier when they plan to...

energy saving quest - how to trace < 300w background load

thats all great. however still the same question remains - is there a reasonably priced clamp on meter that will give accurate readings at low (< 2 amp) current levels on household circuits?

energy saving quest - how to trace < 300w background load

so are these devices untrustworthy at the low end / too much error margin? and thus need to do a meter reading maths method on the the low load point to get valid reading?

energy saving quest - how to trace < 300w background load

been round killed all that "house infrastructure" stuff such as boiler, loft tv amp etc already. hence why my method now is to shut down by ring , trace and then I will find it and either go "d'oh" or "eeenteresting...." looked at the screwfix one, annoyingly min current 2amps... I assume...

energy saving quest - how to trace < 300w background load

hi I have a "your loop" energy monitor on my electrical supply. Its been pretty good at helping me find things that are using energy in my house. It shows the at-rest load of my house (everything switched off / unplugged that can be) around 350W constantly, which is working out around £1 a day...

sewer gas smell - downstairs wc

separately down into the floor, its on opposite side of room (approx 1.5 metres away) from the toilet. it doesn't join the toilet waste inside the house. it almost certainly does so underground outside somewhere.

sewer gas smell - downstairs wc

room has an outside wall and double glazed window, with a night vent thats always open, so always has some airflow. the smell only comes on flush, its not there under "steady state". toilet has internal cistern overflow, its modern back-to-wall unit with boxed cistern. I considered damp but I...

sewer gas smell - downstairs wc

yes there is , and I'm not 100% sure its not. however the feeling is that the smell appears as soon as you've flushed, not after the hand wash, but could be wrong. not getting the smell at the mo so can't check.
