    Sealing sanitaryware. Yes or No?

Just fitted a new suite. I've tiled the room, floor and walls, in full. WC and sink are in and look great. Now, do I go round the edges of the toilet (back to the wall type) with silicon? Same with the sink, do I go round the edge, that meets the wall, with silicon? What do you guys...

    Catflap on Double Glazing

I had this done on a BIG patio door. Bye bye £400! Got the glaziers to supply the unit with a nice, round, sealed hole and then fitted a slimline, polycarbonate cat flap. All the catflap componants were made of the same clear material so it doesn't stand out to much against the...

    Wall mirror fitting, corner treatment.

Thanks for the input folks. Tile edging trim could be the answer. I've seen this in polished chrome, which would look good against the mirror. I'll pop to some tile shops and see if anyone does an internal corner profile. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Symo

    Wall mirror fitting, corner treatment.

Hi, don't know if anyone has any tips for this but... I'm in the process of fitting out an ensuite showeroom. It's quite small so, I want to put mirrors on 3 walls to give the illusion of space. The mirrors themselves will run in a band around the room and the largest will be about 1.5m...

    12v spots and shower fan.

Thanks plugwash, so, if I wire the fan and spots in series using a loop in (ie treating them as one light fitting) I could just use one switch cable? Thanks Symo

    12v spots and shower fan.

Hi, I'm building a small en-suite and have now got to the stage of fitting lights etc. I'm going to fit 4 12v 20watt spots to the main area and I was thinking of putting one of those 12v combined fan/spots in the shower cubicle ceiling. My question is, how do I wire this to use its timer...

    Laminate complete flat

Noise! Even if she owns the flat there could be covonants or lease clauses regarding hard floors. Quite common I think. If you've ever lived in a flat below someone with laminate floor you'd know what I mean. I've got a friend in this situation and the racket was unbelievable. Symo

    Laminate floor

The gap is for the floor to be able to expand/contract without "tenting". Still leave the prescribed gap and the new skirting will cover it. Symo

    Laminate complete flat

Has she checked her lease/rental agreement to see if she is OK to lay laminate in the flat? Quite often it is not allowed, for obvious reasons. Symo

Bathroom tiling - easy one for you!

I'd say, fit bath, then tile. This means the tiles come over the edge of the bath for a more effective seal. The water run off is over the edge of the bath even if the silicon bead is not 100%. If you tile first and the sealant is not good the water will run behind. Cheers Symo

Wall to wall, floor to ceiling storage.

Thinking of knocking one of these up myself  Well, I'd like to have a go anyway. Ideally, I'd like to have the appearence of a false wall, ie very little framework showing, using push catches etc. Im thinking of timber frame with MDF panels, kitchen cupboard hinges etc. I'd like...

    Blocking off internal doorway.

Thanks Masona, that's exactly what I've been looking for. Cheers Symo

    Blocking off internal doorway.

I want to remove an internal doorway and was thinking of doing it using breeze-blocks. The reason for this is that the space created will be used to mount the new central heating boiler so I wanted something a bit more "solid" than a stud wall. How is best to tie-in the blocks with the old...
