I've now realised the problem.... I hadn't closed the circuit and joined the thermostat loop. Sorry, so obvious. Still, may help someone else. Just remove the thermostat and close the connections so that it is permanantly on. Hive does the rest.

Hello, would be glad of some (simple, I think) help. I believe we have an S Plan system with 2 valves - one HW and one CH. Currently the thermostat is separate with a 3 core plus earth wire and the Lifesytle timer backplate looks like the attached picture - i.e. only the HW and CH 'on' wires...
