    Wooden Fence / Football Noise

Hi All, Have got a standard 6ft overlap wooden fence at the bottom of our small back garden, the fence is our property. New kids on the other side are thumping their football onto the two panels where our properties meet. I reinforced our side with some extra planks to stop them breaking...

    850W Generators

Hi, Am looking to use one of the 850w 2 stroke petrol generators sold at most places for about £75 to drive a heater rated at 500w. I have seen somewhere that the continuous rating is actually 650W, which should meet my needs of 500W for a max of 4 hours durning a power cut. Would...

    Heat Saving ?

Hi, I'm running a 500w heater with a separate electronic thermostat . Its only a section of the greenhouse 6 ft x 2ft x 7ft h so some 'layering' does occur. While an even temp all over would be desirable is it worth a £1 a week extra as I cannot see it affecting the overall heat loss...

    Extra Rapid Cement

Hi, It was a plastic frame as supplied with the new metal cover, and I did use sharp sand at the correct ratio etc. Am limited to the depth I can bed it as it sits on the precast ring. Think you have answered my question though in that the Extra Rapid stuff has no special conditions...

    Heat Saving ?

Hi, I know that the use of fans at ceiling height blowing the hot air back down to ground level is an accepted way of reducing heating costs in commercial buildings. I'm heating a small insulated greenhouse and thought about trying the same idea, but the running cost of even a small 20w...

    Correct sealant

Hi Astartes Thanks for that link - thats a new product on me - it sure sounds good, but not cheap either at about £10 a tube - but if it does the job its well worth it. Seems to be several outlets on Ebay although will try local roof/building merchants first. Found this interesting...

    Correct sealant

Hi, No the panels are not powdery or flaky - the sealer will adhere if pressed firmly to a dry area but anything else, and it does not really hold, apart from my fingers which are covered in the stuff ! Its the crevices I'm trying to seal, many with tight access on top of the joists.

    Correct sealant

Hi, They were purchased new from a large roofing / builders merchant in 1980 and was told they were then all concrete fibre.

    Correct sealant

Hi, Have got an 20 year old corrugated concrete garage roof that is basically sound but leaking a bit on the overlap joints and fixing holes. Have just tried some of the Evostick Roof and Gutter Repair sealer from a fresh tube but it simply does not take. Have first tried it on the...
