Check the pressure in the expansion vessel,i use a car foot pump,check MI but its usually about half a bar-if water comes out of the valve then it needs replacing-the prv will also most likely need replacing aswell.

Did you agree to have that model fitted or were you not asked.As for bring ripped off it depends how much you were charged!

All burner pressures check out correctly,but by adjusting the softlite dial the inital pressure went up to about 5mb from 2.5mb so hopefully this has sorted it,was just not sure how long the flame rectification is given to prove the flame b4 it trys to reignite,

By the overflow do you mean the prv??If so that will prob need replacing +the cause of it opening in first place will have to be identified.As for the smoke part of your problem it will need a service-the oil pressure/air damper needs setting up with a flu gas analyser.

You checked the oil filter??ive ben to a few which lock out after while then wont re-start for a certain period,faults on a couple of these were the fact that the inline oil filter was clogged up.

If you find a burner with a crack in it but the boiler is still working ok-crack having no affect on flame picture are they ok to leave running or they need condeming?

Might be fan on way out-not giving the aps the desired pressure,or if fans ok may be faulty aps requiring to much pressure to activate it

The "course" is reading through a tracpipe manual and answering questions-u then get a crappy paper card sent through post to say you can install it-i doubt ill ever use it.
