How much cement per bag of ballast?

Hi, Please can anyone advise how much cement I'd use per 25kg bag of ready mix ballast? It needs to be a fairly dry mix as it's for back filling edging for a patio I'm building. Thanks in advance. K-Rod.

    Drainage for Patio.

Hi noseall, All there is is a drain for the downpipe from the upstairs bathroom but this is at the opposite side of the path to where the patio will end (if you see what I mean). Can you explain to me what a soakaway is please?

    Drainage for Patio.

Thanks r896eno and noseall. Yes I am going to lay some edging to separate the patio from the lawn but as noseall said I'd be worried about muddy puddles if I run it that direction. I've never noticed any puddles on the path so presumably water drains adequately off the path. On that...

    Drainage for Patio.

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of preparing part of my garden to lay a patio down and was wondering about drainage. To put you in the picture, the area is about 3m wide by 9m long. At the far end is a metal shed on a concrete base which I'll be laying the patio flush up to, the left side...

How can I make grey mortar?

Hi, I've recently built and rendered a breeze-clock wall and am now about to finish it off with coping stones. I've bought some rough grey stones and would like to know how I can get a similar colour mortar for between the stones. I've browsed the net for cement dye but can't seem to find...

    Render Consistency.

Hi everyone, I plan to render a breezeblock wall shortly, it's my first attempt but I've done a little bit of plastering before so hopefully I'll be ok. I was just wondering what consistency the scratch coat and top coats should be. Should they be like mortar or more like plaster? i.e. a...

    Solution to a dusty loft?

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of boarding my loft for storage. Each time I go back in the loft I notice patches of black dust/dirt on the boards or insulation that is obviously coming off the back of the roof tiles after bad weather. Is there any way I can cover the roof beams to stop...

    Pressure Loss on Boiler

Hi, Please can anyone comment on my last post? I've checked the pipe a few times and it does appear that water is dripping out of it regularly, today it was like a dripping tap! I've also noticed a wet, grey coloured patch on the floor directly beneath the pipe so it looks like it's been...

    Pressure Loss on Boiler

Hi twgas, Thanks for the quick response. When the heating comes on, the pressure goes up possibly a quarter of a bar, no further. With regards to the PRV pipe, am I looking for a lot of water coming out, i.e. a stream or constant drip etc? Will it only be discharging when the heating...
