    Distributing SKY TV

That's exactly what I do. The main TV in the living room is served by the scart output. On the back of my sky box there are actually two RF out and one is used to serve the kitchen via some good quality coax.

Next doors kitchen spotlights-DESL RF lighting John D anyone

So my next door adjoining new neighbour has electrical jobs and asks if i can put a few dimmer switches in for them. The kitchen has 9 spots recessed in the ceiling in a lovely square nine. I decided to open up the middle one to find the wattage of the lamps etc to see what is required...

    Numpties! Training the trainer.

Our 2391 trainer in class got confused when he was talking abount TNCS and one of the pupils said "that's the same as PME isn't it?" He said no, he has since left after many people failed the course. I always cut T&E with snips down the centre nibbling just over an inch in and spilt the...

    Immersion heater socket

Jack you will probably find this radial circuit is served by a 15 amp fuse? Find out what size the conductors are on it and one of us can take it further with you.

Refering to an onsite guide page 52 section 7 : Maximum diameter of hole 0.25 of joist depth Holes on centre line in a zone between 0.25 and 0.4 x span Maximum depth of notch should be 0.125 x joist depth. Notches on top in a zone between 0.1 and 0.25 x span Holes in the same...

Fit a switched socket in loft

Personally i'd use the unused immersion point, change the face place for a switched fuse connection and since that aerial unit is only going to be served I'd put a 5 or 3 amp fuse in it.

    Old shower power cable

It would be ok but think about lowering the fuse rating to perhaps 15 amp as you're going to need to join it and bring it down somewhere. Also if you want to serve an outside light make sure you use a switched fused spur and a 3 amp fuse as protection to it.

    Old bathroom earthing?

There is no requirement to join the bonding to the MET, basically all you are required to do is create the same potential on all the devices so no current can flow between them if you touch two of them. Why don't you consult this electrician "coming round"?

    Consumer Unit installation and sign-off

The electrician will be effectively changing every circuit so will test off every circuit and do a Zs for each of them - or at least I hope he will.

    New TV Aerial System

 Always worth running around three feeds to the main tv in the living room to the loft space - one aerial, one to feed sky/cable and one to connect upto anything around the house via the digi RF out - I can watch sky anywhere in my house as I have a coax connected to RF out on the digi...

    consumer units

Alan, Personally i'd have one with a 100 mA RCD which would offer fire protection and is normally double poled anyway. I'd have a split load; 30mA rcd for ring/radial and lighting and circuits serving fridge freezers and cookers on the other side. Hope that's a polite enough response :D...

    stripping cable insulation

I sometimes use a stanley knife to cut cables by placing it on a firm flat surface and slitting down the centre carefully. Basic health and safety is never to use your hand as a "vice" when screwing or cutting, one slip and a nasty cut is the result.
