What isolator switch do I need?

The Dataserve guy marked them Domestic 24 hr & Heating in pen , just below the isolator 'L' stickers. I did have Economy 7 storage heaters and immersion heater. The tail on the RH went to a dedicated economy 7 CU with radials for the electric storage heaters and possibly the immersion heater...

One of my downstairs lights is on the upstairs light circuit

And of course the bright black on yellow label tape in my label machine had to run out right now didn't it  I've lived in this house for 8 years now and am surprised that this is the first time i've had cause to notice this so I've done a full lights check. I also have an outside...

One of my downstairs lights is on the upstairs light circuit

Hello folks, I've just discovered that the pendant light in my downstairs dining room is conected to the upstairs lighting circuit, and switches on and off with the upstairs light circuit MCB. I've not touched, any of the light circuits and so can only assume this was done by a previous...

What isolator switch do I need?

In fact thinking about this further, the guy who came out to do my work told me that not only was he only supposed to fit equipment supplied to him by Scot Pwr, but that he also had to use the official tools that they provided too ! I presume this is a safety/insurance thing. This was...

What isolator switch do I need?

How come you are having to do all this stuff yourself ? I got all my work done by Scottish Power for free via my supply company ( Atlantic Electric & Gas ), I just phoned them up after seeing a post on this discussion board and a few weeks/phone calls later it was done.

What isolator switch do I need?

Scottish Power ( Dataserve) came out to my house to fit an isolator to my house just over two weeks ago. I then had a sparky in to remove my existing 24 hour & economy 7 CU's and replace them with a single split load CU. The Scot Pwr geezer fitted a Wylex unit. The top half is sealed and the...

Miele washig machine - shakes the house to pieces...

I bought a Miele washig machine last year. It was a little more expensive than I'd planned to spend but i'd heard that they were really good quality. It is the heaviest washing machine that i've ever owned, which is about 5 over the last 21 years of marriage. I am a maintenance...

    Satellite Cable Crimpers.

I can sometimes be a good idea to dip the end of the cable in silicon grease, prior to making the connection not only does it help to lubricate the screw on type plugs whilst assembling , but also helps to weatherseal them. The screw thread easily cuts through the grease to make a good connection...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

Yes. Garden shed is connected to the house using an 8m - 10m long , 3 x 6mm² core buried SWA cable. It is connected via a B32 MCB on the non RCD side of the House CU. I have another 2 way CU in the shed fitted with an 30ma RCD/Isolator. Sockets are connected via 4mm² T&E protected by a B20...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

I hear what you are saying. I also don't know why there are 2 earths from the CU to the MET, however I did used to have 2 x CU's before, a normal one and a seperate one for the economy 7 strorage heaters so the spark probably used both for the new single split load CU. I work within...

Electrical supply to Garage - Advice

10mm² for 2 x 50 watt flo tubes and a socket for a lawnmower/garden/diy tool and possibly a pond pump, seems a bit excessive, especially given the distance. It will certainly be future proof. 'Approx' how long would the cabl;e need to be between your existing consumer unit, which should...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

Yeah, the CU was replaced last week by a local Spark. Basically he ripped out the old two CU's ( 1 x normal 1 x economy 7 , and isolated a whole load of Electrical Heating circuits that are now either not fitted, or obsolete ( Storage heater Radials, Fan/Panel Heates radials, Immersion Heaters...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

well I dived back under the floors this morning amongst the cement?concrete dust ( horrible place ) and took a closer look at my earthing arrangements and did a bit of minor modification with power off/Isolated. I fitted a new 16mm² earthing cable from just after where the Gas pipe enters...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

I'll take another look tomorrow, I'm pretty sure though that the thinner earthing cables ( they are either 6 or 10mm :? ) come from the pipework supplying the kitchen taps and also the the pipework supplying the bathroom ( Bath, Basin,WC ) which is also on the ground floor. I also have a...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

OK folks here are some pictures, needless to say my missus just loved taking pee as I took photo's of the gas meter  For info: The Gas and Electricity Meter boxes are outside the house, any cables and pipes then pass into the house into an internal cupboard that houses my Main house...

Hello Folks. I have the luxury of being able to access the entire under (ground) floor area of my semi. This is where all of my services enter and exit the house. I was under the floor today installing a compyter network cable when i decided to have a bit of a mooch around to check all of...

    Tooling: Modulo screwdriver heads.

Not in the Aircraft industry they're not :) , very much alive and kicking, along with many others, although mostly Phillips, Torq-set, Tri-Wing, Hex and Dzus. The only screw head types that I have 'never' seen fitted to an Aircraft are Pozi drives or these Hybrid Modulo things, which is...
