I to run the knife down along side the earth wire, just leaning the knife inwards towards the earth wire as not to damage the insulation on the adjacent conductor.
One thing, you don't want a sharp knife for this.
When I need a new knife I start by taking the edge off it.
I have been...
Re Q1, The NICEIC like the reading to be below 200 ohms, however that is not the requirement.
Pouring water on it is not the answer and your inspector would have a fit if you told you had done this, however people do do it
When you did your test was it using the loop tester...
Now that is something we can totally agree on then :D :D :D :D
I am in it but never wanted to be, however my clients are those that insist on it.
They always said it was a charity, who the hell for.
Now they are not a charity so what happens next, up the prices no doubt. :( :(
Sorry Gary but unless you installed all the cabling, fittings, earthing, design etc, your EIC cannot cover it all.
For a start you would not want it to, you cannot issue an EIC for another persons work. This has been discussed many times.
I agree, what is the difference between an NICEIC Approved Contractor and a NICEIC Domestic Installer.
As far as the letting agent is concerned they are the same.
NICEIC is all they see.
Gary I agree that you will be testing every circuit before you energise it, but your Domestic Installation Certificate will be for the fuseboard only.
A Domestic Installation Certificate is for your work only, the rest requires a periodic.
On a Domestic Installation Certificate there...
Going back some years, you could get imperial/metric conversion kits, or use the pot wedge system, but I have not seen them for years.
I understand they don't make them any more due to the wedge coming loose if any vibration in the cable happened.
There was also a black resin repair kit...
Unless you are doing a full Periodic then you cannot issue one.
The Domestic Installation Certificate will only cover the fuseboard.
You cannot issue a Domestic Installation Certificate for the complete installation unless it is your new installation.
Rentals should have a Periodic...
Screwits, this is an old installation.
If so the MI may not be metric and this could make things more tricky.
The bottom right MI looks like it could be the damaged one, so only the one joint plus a new short length of MI back into the box would be required.
I wonder why MI was used in the...
A 50W 12V Lamp is roughly the same, 2 X 50W same as a 100w GLS.
9W is 9W so you can have many more, however the lamp could be changed for higher wattage GU10 lamps at a later stage, so do not add to many.
