    this boiler is the solo and it does have the neon test lights-voltage has been tested to gas valve-pcb is sending the voltage when it shouldnt be......................if it proves not to be pcb then customer wont be charged for it-thats the way my company works. non CORGI`s eh?

    erm.........one end will be open-after pipe is cut into-was refering to the open ends of the pipe at the inlet and outlet of meter.

    remove meter,cap open ends of pipework and cap meter inlets aswell-then place meter in safe place away from where you are working-thats way i was told to do it in acs exams

    its a pretty old thing- a baxi solo wm 30/4 pf. found the manual on parts arena and now have the fault finding guide as there are 3 orange lights on control box-but cant remember which ones were lighting up now

    Was called to a gas leak today-turned out it was the boiler itself-when the boiler is turned on it does 1 of 3 things- 1. fan starts-igniton starts and both the main gas and piolt gas start to flow at same time! 2. nothing hapens at all 3. fan does not start but power is sent to the gas valve...

    Think im gona go for one of the mysons-can the fit under the breakfast bar as the air blows outwards as for the noisy fan ill have to turn volume up on tv if it happens :D

    Just plumbed in the radiator in the conservatory-its a designer collum type,no convecting-just 4 rows of double bars-although the rad is getting hot don't seem to be warming room up!Got it running through back of breakfast bar table on back wall-would changing this for a double connector...

    Ive got to go take a look at mates boiler tommorow(model as above)he rekons the dhw flow rate is slow-ive got him to fill a bowl over 1 min and measure contents-its only giving out just under 6 litres ona mid temp setting-i know mains cold water pressure is good-anybody any ideas with this...

    best way to remove rusted on nut?(expansion vessel)

    Just sorting out a mates boiler (worcester heatslave 9.24)prv needed replacing/diverter valve is on order and found out expansion vessel is nakered so ordering 1 of them aswell but looking at the nut connecting to the expansion vessel-the threads are rusty and it seems solid-whats the best way...

    Worse part of the exams is when you know the answer to the question 100% and then it comes back marked wrong! I got just 1 wrong on the closed book paper(what happens to ng-does it rise/mix with air or fall to ground)Obvious that it rises! but come back wrong-after scratching my head for 5 mins...

    It is true-i live about a mile away from there,they were trying to steal the pipework out of an empty house-explolsion was caused beacuse they were smoking whilst taking out the gas pipes!! :shock:

    Pipe run

    Dont think the cold pipe would need insulation in an internal wall-but if it is being plastered over and its copper pipe it would need to be sleeved to prevent corosion from the plaster.Not 100% sure on this but sure somebody will correct me if im wrong :wink:

    I think it depends on what job youre doing at moment as to whether a job in gas is suitable-at moment i wrk weekends/late shifts and because of crap bonus scheme earn less than 18k a year-allready been offered 2 jobs servicing-1 £520 a week and another through an agency which would mean me...

I did the bpec gas foundation course-you didnt need any experience to join this course when i did it-but hear they mite be changing rules of entry so...

    gas fitting experience-will work for free!

    Yeah lecturers are great!worked in most the bays although one section is supposed to be for just Bg.Only white goods training there at moment for bg as they only use nic centers now for gas fitters and this one is bpec-but they changing to nic this year.Learning loads there and would reccomend...
