Using one alarm to trigger another

Not quite what I was thinking by a surge protected fused spur - good try though... ;-) Glad you said that 'cos it was the ACT stuff I fitted, though not exactly that in the link. Good news on the battery front, thanks both. Just starting to plan it all now - am I right in thinking that...

Using one alarm to trigger another

One question I forgot to ask was about batteries... Will this one be suitable and fit in the panel? http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=9&products_id=113 Thanks

Using one alarm to trigger another

If you can find one, please give me the link and I'll bow to your superior googling skills - I've tried and failed more than once, then resorted to aftermarket suppressors !!! :? I think mryoung might be correct about te stella - ostridges !?!?! lol Hopefully I'll get the stuff...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Fused spur already in to old panel thankfully, I put that in 6+ years ago (before any new regs came in - I hope !) Not sure if it counts as lights but it was a bug*er getting the cable from the lamppost outside.... Heres a question off on a tangent for you - why doesn't anyone make...

Using one alarm to trigger another

 that about sums me up ! The M12 it is then, can't get a better recommendation. I'll see if I can split the orders to get the best prices and fall within the free delivery brackets. Midlands sorted ? Darn. I'm on the Staffs border, so... I know I'd said so before but I...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Great, I understand now. I'll probably still balls it up, but at least I'll understand what I'm ballsing up !! lol Capable ? me ? lol I've got you fooled then !! Funnily enough I'd shortlisted that detector. I'm thinking smoke would be preferable to heat, but then that did both so...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Only 2 pairs in a 6 core cable, all that wasted copper...! Never mind running whilst trying to walk, I'm up to a steady jog but I feel a sprint coming on !!! Thanks for the reality check. It made more sense as soon as I sketched it out on paper. Using more pairs than I need soon...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Thanks Alarm. Thinking a bit more about it, by using only two cores for the loop I would then need to connect the two (i.e tamper and trigger) in series in the device (PIR etc). Not that its a problem but just wondering is that the norm/best practice, or would you use 4 cores (excluding...

Using one alarm to trigger another

I told you I'd be back ! I'll ask this here for now anyway though it might be better in a new topic perhaps ? I have a question re End of Line wiring - this isn't supported in my old/current 800L panel so is new to me, blo*dy clever stuff though and I'm finding this really interesting ...

Using one alarm to trigger another

No problem I didn't take any offence ! I can see thie Texecom is one serious panel compared to the current one - installation manual of 112 A4 pages vs 15 A5 pages ! I'll be back...! Cheers

Using one alarm to trigger another

And I very much appreciate the help, I never said I was set on having 2 panels ! I was however curious on the reasons why that isn't a good idea and now I understand a little more I can see that it will be worth the effort to switch panels. Even looking forward to it in a strange sort of way...

Using one alarm to trigger another

I understand the Texecom Premier 48 supports 'areas' - would this be suitable along with a couple of the basic keypads ??? And would this come complete with installation manual or am I going to struggle with that ? Final question (for now !) is any recommendations for suppliers to private...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Yes, currently only the one panel. Not sure I follow what you mean by it would disable the other one ? I thought that if the garage alarm went off and it opened the tamper on the house alarm, that would effectively set both off and could solve the problem ? Would mean having to reset 2...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Thanks yet again, will do some research. Out of interest though - or my fallback option - would that relay trick work ok or are there any major downsides I'm missing ???

Using one alarm to trigger another

Thanks, off the top of your head can you name a suitable panel I can look at ? It would be the neatest solution but I must admit I would have a couple of reservations about doing it - firstly disturbing an otherwise stable system (hope the install notes I made are sufficient to swap panels...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Thanks for the replies so far, the house panel is a Intellisense / Honeywell 800L and was thinking of getting the same for the garage if only to act as a future 'spare' if necessary. Another keypad would be possible but I presume the entry/exit tones would also sound on the 'house' keypad...

Using one alarm to trigger another

Hi Hope someone can advise with this one ? I fitted an alarm into the house a few years ago. The garage is attached to the house and the main garage door has a magnetic contact and a zone all to itself. I now wish to separately alarm the garage, basically so the garage can be entered...

    Bungalow fascias

Thanks for the reply. Got a reputable local company to come and give a quote for a complete removal of old wood fascias, asbestos soffits and guttering and replacement with installation of new Swish-made upvc stuff, front, back and gable end, £2100. Guess we'd need another quote for...

    Bungalow fascias

Hi The wooden fascia on my mom's semi-detached bungalow (built 1958) are in need of attention. One end is rotten, but the rest seems faily sound although has cracked/peeling layers of paint in places along most of the rest of the length (7m ish) I was thinking of cutting out and replacing...
