Added Inhibitor but still getting hydrogen in radiators.

Sentinel do a heating water test kit, often £10 on Amazon. You collect a small sample of tap water and heating water (from a bleed valve), send it off and they provide a report. System does need to have X100 (only) in it to produce a report with anything useful on it though.

    Heating Water ph8.8

Just had a Sentinel test back reporting ph8.8, and possible aluminium corrosion (recommended <ph8.5). System contains some new radiators including aluminium. Internet seems mixed on whether aluminium oxide is stable to ph8, 8.5, or 9. Any thoughts on whether drain and clean is really needed...

Vaillant Ambisense (on heat pump) - function and reliability?

Hi, I have a Vaillant HP with 17 rads on a single circuit. Building has 3 thermal zones - house, office and workshop; sun impacts house in the morning. Currently controlled with Wiser, which works fine, but bad for the heat pump efficiency. Considering replacing Wiser with AmbiSense starter...

    Vaillant ecotec plus problem

For the benefit of the search, Vaillant have a new sensor for this boiler part number 0020059717. It's no longer metalic and hence doesn't collect deposits (supposedly). It can be fitted to either original or modified (i.e. with the F.75 kit) units I am told.

Attaching a radiator to a cavity wall

you should be able to mount it with those heavy duty metal fixings that pull out on the inside - they are used to hang kitchen cupboards - but I wouldn't personally trust it. Much better to find the studs, or even get a metal cross beam fabricated if you know someone in metal working.

RCD's for kitchen pelmet lights - am I being conned?

I do see where you are coming from and do agree with you - was just trying to cut the guy some slack as the chances are there are some that owe him for it, regardless of his own intentions. In any case if Mr Brown didn't dip his hand into everything quite so much perhaps we wouldn't have such...

    TV ARIEL MODS

There are impendence matching resistors in most Y splitters. Sadly this also reduces the signal. Reception is often crap in a loft partly due to the high metalic content of concrete tiles. Have you considered buying a freeview box? Seriously they don't need such a strong signal BUT are...

RCD's for kitchen pelmet lights - am I being conned?

It is a bit crap to offer to do a job that doesn't need doing, but then how many times when your car is being serviced does the garage say "oh you should really get the brake fluid changed". The point is they know anything vaguely to do with safety 9/10 will go for regardless. And to some its...

Zanussi washer-dryer WJS1197W - is it time to call it a day?

My personal opinion is that its not worth fixing unless I can do it myself. A new one will use less power and water and you might be able to find one with a bigger load and a five year guarantee (ie LG). If you've had all those new parts you could strip it and sell them off on ebay! Maybe...

    TV ARIEL MODS

You might find it better to use an F-type splitter which is fully shielded as easier to get a good connection.

    Electric shock off aerial coax

Surely you'd be much better with the whole aerial NOT earthed in an electric storm. Earthing it will only attract it!! If you do earth the cable, you need a balun.

    Electric shock off aerial coax

You'd need a lot more than 12v to get a shock though. There could be a fault in one of the TVs, which could be dangerous. IIRC wiring regs require multi output systems to use isolated coax sockets for this reason. Interesting point on the screen. Certainly most systems don't appear to need...

Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 Washer dryer doesn't dry!

Also check the air ways of the drier. My Bosch recently did this, it turned out to be the air ducting was blocked at the bottom of the drum - see my post with a similar title.

    Bosch washer dryer won't dry!

My sister has a Hotpoint washer drier with a hose carefully clipped all the way up the back! (In fact she'll be gutted as she bought it to replace the Bosch machine this thread is all about...) This is always assumed, I agree it would cost a lot more. But people will pay - look at the...

    Someone explain a volt drop.

I think we're all splitting hairs a bit hear!!! Anyway as stated voltage drop increases with load, hence why overhead power cables are many 000's of volts - this reduces the current and hence the loss in the cable. To reduce loss either use a bigger cable or increase the voltage.

    Bosch washer dryer won't dry!

PTH: Yes the water runs back to the drain via the drum, by that I mean the outer drum as breezer says. I presume your drain exits from the top of the machine then? The bosch one comes out the bottom. Breezer: The Bosch uses only a single heater element but has three thermostats (presumably...

    worcester bosch 24i

Is the fan running properly at full speed? If its got some grime in it it may be taking a while to spin up fully.

Surely Volts is simply the si unit of potential difference??

    Domestic Air Conditioning

Anyone know anything about this? I'm looking to rip out the central heating system in our house (1920's 3-bed) and install a decent air conditioning and heat pump system. Firstly, that leaves me with no hot water. Is it OK to have a combi to doing mainly hot water (on mains pressure) and...
