Best way to build bricks infront of a brick wall

(Why) does it need to be a brick wall? Could it be something else, eg a bit of 4x2 and plasterboard?

Device that cuts power if too much is used for a long time

Its not a simple thing though - you're not cutting off on a fixed (instantaneous) power usage amount. The OP wants to allow eg hairdryer but not fan heater. What you'd need to design, is a device which meters Ah (or kWh) used over a period of time, and decide on a time-averaged threshold to cut...

    wiring 5 security lights

The electrical connections are, of course, in parallel but the "in series" is being misinterpreted to mean a radial, ie FCU to 1st light, then another cable to the 2nd light etc until the 5th light has the final cable to it. This means 4 lights would have 2 cables to them, the last one not...

    wiring 5 security lights

Ok no worries I was simply repeating a piece of advice from ericmark and Johnmelad, see the thread here: http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/trying-to-install-a-security-light.385377/#2957986 It appears to be a guidance within Building Regulations approved documents in England and Wales.

Device that cuts power if too much is used for a long time

For example, if you can get their electricity sockets/lighting etc onto discrete circuit(s), you could install one of these into the consumer unit or a separate box: http://www.allaboutelectrics.co.uk/100a-2-module-kwh-meter.html

Device that cuts power if too much is used for a long time

I think you need to either find a way of billing them fairly for the power they use, or adjusting the rent to take into account potential electricity usage. Its going to be simpler in the long run, and fairer for both sides. Trying to tell them what they can/can't do it overly restrictive and I...

If the socket's already protected by RCD, then you won't need a second one.

    wiring 5 security lights

5x 500W is really quite a lot of lighting. A 120W floodlight gives good illumination, 5 x 120W would be more than adequate for most houses I'd imagine. The legal limit (for planning permission purposes) is per lamp, not for the whole lighting, so 120W are fine here.

    ADSL Speed Info required

I don't know if it helps but just for curiousity, I did a speed test on my Three dongle, the results are 10mbps download and 2.39mbps upload. In other words, 2.3x as fast as ADSL on the upload. So if you have a particular application that needs good upload speeds, and ADSL isn't doing it for...

    Gas regulations for campervans

Is the large gas bottle going to be carried in/on a proper gas locker or storage area and properly secured, or just put in the interior of the trailer and moved around when needed?

    Gas regulations for campervans

Are you permanently living in the campervan? If not, the regs aren't as strict, it doesn't NEED to be done by a properly qualified Gassafe person, just someone "competent". Internal gas locker doesn't need to be airtight, just vented to outside at bottom. Gas bottle outside of van seems bonkers...

    Jig Saw Blades

Buy a fine blade. Don't expect a jigsaw to be able to cut particularly straight, or its cut to be true (at a right angle) in deep material.

    Ok no worries.

    Consumer unit

Its not up to me though (in general) - there's a lot of regulation now which requires RCDs, etc admittedly for new installations not just repairs to existing ones. Do you mean it isn't less safe, or it isn't costly? I'm saying its one or the other.

    Consumer unit

In my own home, in the past 10 years I've tripped the RCD twice. If it weren't there, I'd have only been dead once though. The "lights going out" scenario also requires that it happens at night, eg no daylight available to see without the lights. Thus making it even less of an issue. But its...

    Consumer unit

Ok let me think up a hypothetical scenario - a shed is supplied by a SWA mains cable, which is brought inside and connected to artic cable inside the shed feeding a garage consumer unit, some lighting, some power sockets etc. A trailer reverses into the shed at night and punches a hole in the...

    Consumer unit

I'd have thought the main reason for having an outbuilding's RCD located in the house, is to protect someone from electric shock if the cable between were accidentally damaged. Having the RCD in the outbuilding implies that either there's 2x RCDs in series (not good) or that the cable run...

    ADSL Speed Info required

A much more reliable (more so than guessing) way to obtain your router IP address is Start --> (enter CMD into the "Search programs and files" box). Then type in IPCONFIG. The router will be the address which is listed as "default gateway". For example my router is 192.168.0.1

    Trailer lock

Most hitches have a hitchlock which locks the release mechanism, ie making it impossible to detach or attach a tow ball to them - so they'll work whether hitched to a car or not. If your hitch doesn't have one, then a practical suggestion is to look at some hitches which do, and modify yours...
