One day you will need a new boiler.
Most new boiler maker's expect a magnetic filter when it is installed before they want to start the warranty cover.
So you might as well fit it now and probably you will be able to keep it clean enough that a further chemical clean may not even be needed...
Heat will only flow into pipes if there is a water flow through them.
If any motorised valve along the pipe is closed then there will be no water flow and so they will remain cold and not lose any heat.
However any heat loss from heating pipes is generally low and in an occupied house must...
Anyone reading this thread needs to be aware there is potential for confusion because a Megaflow is a brand name of one Maker's unvented cylinder and that uses an internal air gap as an expansion vessel.
Most installers prefer a separate expansion vessel and they can also be used with a...
Now if there is no gas in it on a 20 y.o. car should I assume it is just normal leakage and repressurising it should effect a cure?
Or should I expect that it has developed a leak and repressurising will be a waste of money?
When I bought my current Peugeot 307cc I dropped off as an old boss would have said.
It was winter time and when I was checking the car out and I totally forgot to check the AC.
On a previous car an AC recharge made it work again.
But apart from recharging it what other diagnostics are...
My friend had a problem at his house in Manchester.
He got a reasonable quote from a couple of guys to fit concrete posts and gravel boards and 11 fence panels.
But after a few hours they came and told him they had dug into a gas pipe.
He thought the fencers were to blame but I pointed out...
The radiator system does not know where the heat is coming from.
Nor does the boiler know where its heat is going.
Before making any changes it would be sensible to do a thermal survey of the heating using the existing oil boiler to see if a gas boiler is likely to be able to match the heating...
I have heard of many who have done all sorts of courses!
But still do not understand dynamic flow rate or know how to measure it.
Simply it is the flow rate which can be taken whilst still having a pressure of say 0.5 bar in the house distribution pipes.
That remaining pressure is needed to...
Well without knowing the pump spec that is going to be way over the minimum.
A typical combi boiler is about 2 li/min!
Might be worth inspecting the magnetic floats in case something is partially restricting their movement.
It is unlikely to cause any significant problem how the pipework has been done.
As the entry through the wall has not been sealed then ground water outside could run along the loose fill around the pipe into your wall. Should have been sealed on the outside but cement sealed on the inside may...
Just been reading some of these 16 pages.
I have to admit that I had forgotten the thread even existed.
But then since 2009 I have been on 7 cruises and on a few holidays and some wine tours.
It could be that the shower flow rate is insufficient to keep the flow switch on.
You should measure the hot flow at the shower head. The manual should say what flow rate it will turn on at. The one here turns on at just 1 li/min.
Now have you been cleaning the shower head holes of lime...
A test of the flow switch would be to run a tank fed hot tap at about 4 litres per minute.
Sometimes shower pumps have an overheat device but that would take a few minutes to get hot after starting. Does yours do this cutting out immediately after it is turned on?
I have been reading all this for a bit of fun.
But I am surprised that no one mentioned what I have always done and thought was standard practice.
That is to start at zero HW flow and SLOWLY increase it until boiler turns on, then to stap and measure the flow rate and compare it with the...
Now I am left wondering what this warranty actually is.
My experience, based on friends, is that main dealers treat all customers like idiots and expect to do as much as they can based on the manufacturer's recommendations and do not react well to anyone questioning their expectations.
Also...
And probably if you are fussy it ought to be heat resisting!
I think a local CEF will cut it but then they are dead helpful there. Only been open a few months but you would think the two guys there owned it they are so helpful.
I noticed it because a few months ago I was reading a very sad report of someone living in sheltered accommodation who wanted a simple 2m colinear so that he could talk to his friends as he could not drive or walk any more.
He did the right thing and asked the Manager of the accommodation who...
