    a blocked cold feed/cure?...

the reason I said about the water being black is because I read an older post on a similar matter a while ago and I think they meant if the water is black then it is the old dirty(ish) CH water. DOn't know if this makes any sense to you?

    Radiator Lugs

yes that is correct, they are usually little plastic things which come with a rad when you buy it. some people forget to use them but they do make a difference, apparantly!

    a blocked cold feed/cure?...

Hi-there to return to my post from a few days ago. What cleaner / chemical cleaner can be used to clear the cold feed? Also though will this not just mean that the crud/sediment will then be circulating around my central heating/primary pipework? Does bleeding the top rads and them...

    What is 'hot water priority'?

it just gives priority to hot water over heating when both are calling or required at the same time. so not a good idea in a large household in cold weather! that's why the 3 port mid position or 2 x two port valves are more popular than the old 3 port diverter valve that always gave hot water...

    Tap Reseating ...

yeah i suppose, but as long as the tap reseater fits then i guess it must be fine? or is there a rule of thumb, ie the disc the same or similar size to the tap washer is the best one to use? i haven't any domed shaped discs with mine tool though just flat ones with serated bits on.

creating a vacuum - bunging feed and expanison tank

and it saves you needing to an an inhibitor again. i suppose you only need to drain if you want to change pipework... otherwise sounds good to me. When I changed a rad valve using 2 bungs i closed the lockshield drained the rad, bled it as i was doing it, and no water at all came from the...

    Sanitary sealing

putty or sealant (clear type) under waste outlets (both sides) can help create a better seal or you can use a basin mate as previously said. sometimes the washers (plastic type) with the wastes do leak (especially the cheaper ones) so either buy a basin mate (about £1) or use sealant/putty.

    What is 'hot water priority'?

a 3 port diverter valve also gives hot water priority-not the 3 port mid position type.

creating a vacuum - bunging feed and expanison tank

interesting post-I too have hears of this but never tried it yet, sounds a lot easier than draining and refilling! Why would bleeding the rads first help to create the vacuum though? And why is it important to listen out for the gurgling? Is this to let you know water is on the way?! I...
