    Rec books: snags and souloution (not bad) but niceic have a inspection,testing and certification book out (4th edition) £25 if none approved £15 if approved. This will point you in the right direction, they also do 2381 and 2391 training courses, get you boss to pay (not cheap!!!!)

    i would not put intallation on top of the lights, you can buy fire proof covering for lights if you are worried, also with the damp/condensation of a bathroom make sure the lights are designed for a bathroom.

    sorry just reread you quarry wire all the lights up the 6amp or 10amp junction box depending on the fuse check the wattage of the bulbs 10 x 40 watts = 400 watts make sure it will not overload the citcuit.

    lets say a downstairs ring main is protected by a rcd, plug in your test at a socket go the the settings eg rcd time, 30ma x1 and press the test button the rcd will trip in milli seconds, then switch to rcd trip 30ma x1 and repeat this will give you a milliamp triping time repeat again at x5...

    you need to test a rcd with a rcd tester or multifunction tester 1,5 settings are tests to the breaking point of the rcd.

    Thanks for the reply m8 It crossed my mind about trying a 16 amp mcb the installation is a TT only 5 brackers on cu to rewire the circuit was not easy and i will have to change the cu. But you are probably correct about surges, i will try a clamp meter across the circuit see what it pulls...
