    Removing sockets from skirting boards

It's a Victorian apartment and from memory the skirtings are at least 12" high, possibly more, so I'm not sure whether they're going to be replaced or not. Is the cable likely to be routed behind the skirting or under the floorboards?

    Removing sockets from skirting boards

Someone has asked me to help them move their socket outlets out of the skirting boards as they've been told this needs to be done before they can address a damp issue they have, although as yet I'm not sure whether someone's just unaware that regulations aren't retrospective or they do in fact...

Don't worry, when it falls off the first page it'll get more ignored.

Spur configuration found - is this OK?

Yes, but I'm just talking about the simple replacement of damaged cables which it looks like he may be undertaking. If the wiring to one of those spurs is damaged and he replaces it as is then it doesn't matter which set of regulations it was constructed too :)

Spur configuration found - is this OK?

As the regulations aren't retrospective it doesn't have to comply anyway, although it does. If you just want to replace any 'damaged' wiring you can do that with little observation to the regulations too, just make sure it's no less safe than when you started :)

    Fakes

That's hardly surprising when you see what's inside them, it looked just like a bit of fuse wire.

Can You Train For Part P If Red/Green Colour Blind?

No, they don't test your colour vision in any of the associated exams. The online building regulations exam is black & white as are the other 8 written exams so your vision won't affect your ability to complete those either.

    Volt tester probe tip sheaths.

Does anyone know where I can source GS38 compliant probe tip covers for a T100 volt tester from for a realistic price, or alternatively what to use instead? Ebay's let me down & I've spoken to Fluke who will happily supply them for £3 per pair + £35 delivery if the order's under £75, I don't...

    BS7671 17th edition Amendment #1 DPC

What's the deal with these amendments as opposed to complete new versions? Are we supposed to just make ourselves aware of the changes and declare that on any paperwork we issue, ie the relevant 'amended to' sections, or will their eventual publication require an update of qualifications?

First NIC inspection (electrical domestic installer)

Congrats. That flaky RCD might've stood you in good stead as it's all very well testing a known sound installation but in the real world things do go wrong and being able to rectify them correctly is something assessors probably don't actually see candidates doing often :)
