Burglar Alarm Installations & Part P

It is, it isnt, it is, it isnt, lol, as far as I'm concerned, and the company I work for, and the bodies we are connected to, have no reason to notify a 12v PIR in a kitchen, and wont until we are told to! And unless someone wants their panel in their bathroom (I've come across a few), I'm...

Burglar Alarm Installations & Part P

I fit alarms every day, we generally install a 12v PIR's in Kitchens, without notifiacation! As a company we cannot be seen to be breaking the law, and I've never been told to avoid kitchens as yet.

Burglar Alarm Installations & Part P

Indeed they do, but like Spark123 said, as long as its on an exsisting circuit, its not notifiable. We fit loads and dont have a problem with part P.

Brand new central heating/water system. Plastic or copper?

When BG fitted our CH, they wouldnt use plastic, other companys quoted did use plastic, own personal preference maybe? However BG did comment that the reason they didnt use plastic was because the fact that the hot cold hot cold process isnt going to do the plastic much good, and they didnt...

    Which DIY Wireless Burglar Alarm???

To be completely honest they are all crap! Response/ Micromark/ Friedland As an engineer these are what we take out and throw away. The only wireless kit we will install as a company is a Scantronic, but again these can prove to be problematic. IMHO if you can fit a wired system, run all...

    Door entry system

I agree on these, but if you wanna go cheap and cheerful then you could go for Bell, most of the time you daisychain the handsets. Your best bet is to deicide what kit you want, then see how it wires up, sometimes the instructions seem a lot more complicated than they are! You can use...

    What tools?

I'm using CK snips at work, and indeed they are good, but for home use I found some draper ones much too good for work.

    Would this solve the problem?????

I had a simular problem at home when I replaced my pipework in my bathroom as I had 22mm going to the bath from the old tank. But now with the combi I used just 15mm and it works fine, with advice from here, although the water is never as hot as it was with the tank feeding it.

    British Gas Homecare

I'm guessing its a rubbish combi, lol. Seriously though, there have been a couple of times we've had to call them back cos once they'd fixed one thing another went wrong, the last engineer to come out said they dont fit this one anymore cos of the callbacks! The first ever problem with it...

    Refitting a bathroom

My new bathroom suite just cost about that, and I've moved it all around and done it myself! If he's supplying the kit himself, I guess that aint a bad price? http://www.plumb-quick.co.uk/ These guys are in Bristol, no idea what they are like, but might be good for a quote you never know...

    British Gas Homecare

BG fitted our combi and heating, and we have the cover too, and we've called them out about 10 times in 2 years!! They are reliable and fixed most problems, they also cover other stuff like your electrics, and water and drains! One thing they dont seem to cover is the Stop cock though, yeh...

    Boiler in Bathrooms

I'm no expert either, just the way you put it, as queenrach put it, the boiler isnt moving, just the doors/walls, so the exit point for the boiler fumes will still be the same, so its not going to make a difference to the extractor fan surely, this would be an issue now if that was the case?
