Central heating system - room thermostat not doing anything

Thanks, No sign of a pump, valves or wiring box so I imagine these must all be under the floorobards. The lifestyle, which is above the boiler, has 4 wires coming out of it which disappear behind the boiler and that, along with the CH pressure tank and hot water cylinder is all I can see...

Central heating system - room thermostat not doing anything

I have recently moved into a house with a Baxi Solo 3 boiler heating hot water and 5 radiators (each with it's own thermostatic valve). The whole system is controlled by a lifestyle programmer. There is also what looks like a central heating thermostat on the living room wall, and when I...

Stuck tap changing washer - what to use?

I've tried that too, even with someone else trying to brace the tap (with pipe spanner and old towel) the whole tap still moves.

Stuck tap changing washer - what to use?

The problem there is the whole tap just moves and loosens, I need some way of holding the tap in place while pushing the spanner on the top of the tap.

Stuck tap changing washer - what to use?

I'm trying to change a tap washer, the tap is completely stuck and will not come apart, the whole thing turns - I cannot brace the tap from on top or underneath due to the awkward angles things are at. What's the correct way to loosen it? I've tried WD40. Would something like the...

    Mira shower head - fixable?

Thanks. I found a shop selling what I think is the correct part for inside the head, but then found a whole new head on eBay for the same price so just went for that. Not going to adjust the spray untill the new head arrives as it seems to be coming out ok at the position it is in now.

    Mira shower head - fixable?

While cleaning the head of our Mira sport 6kw today I seem to have broken the shower head (girlfriend not impressed :( ) The bit that turns round and adjusts the spray now turns round and round (rather than just once round) with the spray doing crazy things instead of going through the usual...

    Kitchen tap from a tank?

Yes, after some more tests this does seem to be the case. Thanks for your input. I grew up abroad for a while where having a whole block of flats fed from one massive tank (including all kitchen taps) wasn't uncommon at all so I wasn't all that surprised to think that might be the case here.

    Kitchen tap from a tank?

Other than being able to hear a tank fill after running a bath I'm not sure what's in the loft as I don't have access. The hot water cylinder looks just like that, it's next to the boiler and on the other side is the small tank for the CH. If the pipe under the kitchen is for mains why...

    Kitchen tap from a tank?

So is the hot water tank is fed from somewhere other than under the kitchen sink? How would I turn off the water to it should something leak? Is it definitely not the case that a house in the UK would have been plumbed with a kitchen tap fed from a loft tank?

    Kitchen tap from a tank?

Yes, there is a cylinder heated by immerser element and gas boiler which also does the CH. But there is no sign of a stop cock or anything near the boiler.

    Kitchen tap from a tank?

I've just moved into a flat in a small block of 8 flats. All the water for the flat appears to come in via a pipe under the kitchen sink (shut off at floor level then up to kitchen cold tap and along through the wall to bathroom and heating, hot water comes back through the wall). I had...
