    Royal Mail.......great arent they!

Used to work at McDonalds where money would regularly go missing from tills. Turns out it wasn't the minimum wage grunts but the assistant store manager (one down from top grade). She wasn't stealing it because she needed to. She stole because she could. Her argument was "it's not me, why...

    good shot!

Ne'er a truer word spoken sir. Why do we arm our Police if we don't want them to shoot criminals? I'd rather see 1000 armed robbers/gang members/ drug dealers shot than one more police officer. If you pick up a weapon and use it to commit a crime then I believe you forfeit the right to a...

    Royal Mail.......great arent they!

Controversial, or is it? I'm sick of them "losing" things. I've had an empty torn open envelope delivered in a plastic bag with a note attached before. The note said "was there anything in this envelope?" or similar. No, it's just a tradition we have in our family of sending empty...

    plumbing into a detached garage

Put the Double check valve after the isolator, before the tee. This will provide bacflow protection for both legs (garden tap requries one anyway)

    DRIPPING OVERFLOW

Check the ballvalves on the tanks. They should automatically shut off when the water reaches a level. The arms may have got stuck in the open position or a the washer may have broken up/perished.

    Haka et al

They do it because it gets the blood pumping and the adrenalin flowing. I would imagine that facing it has a similar effect. Have a peek on Youtube for New Zealand vs Tonga. The All Blacks are doing the Haka when the Tongans do their Sepi Tao (sp)

    Recycling

We've just had a letter from our local authority informing us that we can no longer put plastic containers (other than PET bottles) and any tin foil or foil trays into our recycling bin as the facility that they've just spent millions on can't handle them. All we can recycle is Paper (which...

    plumbing into a detached garage

Isolator yes, for common sense sake. Use a full bore isolator or BS1010 Stoptap so as not to restrict the flow. As for non return (double check valve) it will depend on what else you are having fed from the pipe as to whether it is necessary. eg a hose union tap. If it's just the washing...

    Pushy / Dishonest Energy Salespeople

We had somebody come round when I lived in my flat. They had a little chat and I told them where to go. They asked me to sign their form just to say that they'd been there but I wasn't interested. I always read everything before I sign it and it's a good job because it was a change of...

    Can we claim for damages?

The biggest question would be: Did they warn you about replacing the valves beforehand? Did they explain what could happen?

    Forum Rule 9

Prices will vary from region to region. Some guys work in London where they have to add congestion charges, parking, lost time due to traffic etc. Other guys will work out in the sticks where they have to travel a fair bit for parts. Their prices will differ. Some areas are over full with...

    Drawings of private drains

Pre 1937 actually, hope he didn't rely too heavily on your legal advice Tony... Records of "private" drains (being anything not on the public highway) aren't usually kept by anybody. Main sewers, land drains and surface water drains are usually logged but not the individual...

    plumbing into a detached garage

Use a wraparound insulation such as Armaflex. Will have to be waterproof as it is for external use. Lay the pipe in a 4" duct, soil pipe is ideal as it is easy to seal to prevent water/insect/rodent ingress.

A lot of ingredients have an E number assigned to them, it's only certain ones that cause hyperactivity (like sunset yellow). I still think it's all an excuse for poorly disciplined children (I said disciplined not beaten  ).
