Inspection and testing a re-wire in a house.

I am employed by a utility company on low voltage supply, but this does not mean I can certify my own domestic wiring (although I have all the calibrated meters and have tested before). At the end of the day, a trade with authority can inspect anothers work and be impartial to the condition of...

Inspection and testing a re-wire in a house.

I was going to re-wire my house and ask someone to do inspection and testing on the circuits. I have electrical qualifications and daily experience. Do fully qualified sparks refrain from doing this work on others installations. How long and roughly how much would it cost for I&T a 3 bed...

3 Phase Suppling a Lift and CU

I overheard a job be discussed recently where the incoming supply was a three-phase cut-out and a domestic supply was also needed for the premises. What resulted was the domestic supply taken off one of the phases at the cut-out and not the installation of a second (single phase) cable for the...

Rising Theft and violence in the sticks.

To be honest thats just a brilliant scam! Like most good scams if works heavily on the greed of the mark. "Do you want some cheap gear, nudge, nudge ??" If this body did not want some "no questions" oil, they would not have been ripped off. Priceless

    Off peak and key meters

Sorry for late reply, been busy! My area is all UU and we fit ACTARIS meters, like this one(4 term+auxiliaries for contactor) but 5 terminal when off peak needs a 25mm tail(sticks out at front). 5 and 4 terminal is an ACE9000 KBD taking a key token. AMPY seem to have changed over to SMS to...

    Economy 7

You could use Economy 10 tariff, with the hours specified by your supplier. Night time heating on efficient storage heaters and maybe daytime heating with panel heaters. You can get timers for each flex outlet that would coincide with the tariff hours (that is, your storage heaters would not...

    Off peak and key meters

Yes you can get key meters for your off peak lecky (I fit them), 5 terminal instead of the four (internal contactor). Guess I don't fit that many as pre payment on a system using many units is hard to keep topped ? Give me a few minutes and I can get the exact meter code..... :)

    Venturi Showers

What shower would you recommend for a combi system with less output than the cold mains. Don't know if its a poor combi or it needs "turning up" a bit??

    Venturi Showers

Venturi Showers. Who makes them and are they compatible with a poor output combi to improve showering?

    C&G 2391 and employment

A cut down version of this exam would very interesting to me and something I have never heard of! Before applying for this exam I would be sure in myself I was ready, I don't like to waste my hard earned cash. If a spark is very clever, he is employable but ironically a smart spark would be...

    C&G 2391 and employment

If you don't have 83.5 years (joking) in the electrical trade would it still be possible to pass an Inspection & Testing exam?? I have a few years house bashing, but no industrial experience, finding it difficult to get hooked up with any of the local companies for that. Wondered if I would be...
