All my rainwater is stored in IBC tanks and most used for toilet flushing and garden, surplus rainwater and surface water goes into the river adjacent to my bungalow. Therefore I do not pay surface water charges but do have to divert some road drainage via my property.

For a heavy duty fixing I have used rawlbolts with a suitable length steel spacer. I would think chemical fixings would work just as well but not tried them.

Pity we cant go back to the old imperial sizes. A No.4 was the same in all makes, as was a 6:8:10:12:14 etc and even No.7 to fit 3" butt hinges.

Use chemical (resin) fixings. Google it or check your local builders merchant.
