So black from cable and blue from separate cable should be connected together and connected to blue wire on alarm. Is this right. Thanks for the quick reply by the way Garry

Doing some redecorating and decided to replace 15 year old dicon alarms with BRK 670MBX. 1 in kitchen one on landing. Disconnected kitchen alarm and had to change over connection. No problems there only three wires. Cable supplying power colours blue , yellow red(EARTHcutback inside sheathing.)...
