    If there is WHITE powdery residue inside then it will be the combustion chamber. Failing that change the condensate trap - it's been upgraded due to this prob and the shorting across the leads on top

    I presume it's the same temp at the taps? Wonder if you can isolate dhw out (gate valve) and check there is definitely no flow at the hot taps? If there is then the mixer valve seal is kaput and mains being drawn in

    If you can remove thepull off cover underneath and just check that the spindle on the diverter is staying extended and keeping the microswitch depressed. If not then it's the diaphragm. Failing that, it's the plate to plate

    usually slow / sticking pump, there is still residual heat in the system and it will have to settle naturally

    I ain't got a check list and I work for BG... whistling noise could be some sort of restriction in pipework; flue seals; or even gas valve. Like you said if there's no limescale request a senior engineer or manager (within 90 days cos there's a load being made redundant after that)
