    Fit a Remote Expansion Vessel

I wonder if the filling loop was left open to guise the fact that the ex vessel had become faulty? Some of these unqualified cowboys get up to all kinds of tricks you know. As long as you don't go smaller in size it's OK. They're quite bulky and it will make for an untidy job fitted on the...

    Changing fill valve awkward pipework

A little tip for you tom is to buy a fill valve with a brass shank because it looks difficult to access the connector with a brass shank you've almost eliminated the chance of a cross thread.

No central heating on BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE

It's what always happens when you get groups of experts together.

No central heating on BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE

I Agree, we've all gone off track on this one and in doing so let the original poster down.

No central heating on BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE

Forgive me it was just my own rather cynical attempt at humour kicking in. One thing that we've not mentioned that happened to me yesterday is that the air valve might be faulty on the ExV. Best to always give it a spray with leak detection fluid after the recharge. Who's that knocking on the...

No central heating on BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE

Nothing at all is wrong HH1 with your above statement. The ExV is always your first check with this type of fault. Just keep it to yourself though or the "Gas Police" will come a knocking on your door!!:sneaky:

    Un vented system hot water

Just to get the final word in I'm a maintenance plumber and cannot legally work on any unvented systems if my registration as expired (even by a day).

    Un vented system hot water

Thanks for the update David (I thought we'd bored you off with plumbing politics). He's told you exactly what I thought it most likely was - although the "high flow inlet control valve" is strange terminology for what's know in the trade as the "Pressure Reducing Valve". You don't normally need...

    Un vented system hot water

Registration proves nothing about a persons competence. A persons competence can only really be measured by their "SKETUA". Paying for a ID card with a photo on it and remembering a few answers to a few questions before paying ££££s to go on a register every 3 years proves nothing. End...

    Un vented system hot water

O.K., I went for a more dynamic statement with the word "unsafe", lets say "untrustworthy" for arguments sake.

    Un vented system hot water

What do they say then? "If you don't pay up to re register then you're no longer in our special G3 club"?

    Un vented system hot water

The government tells us so and they're always right. No, I do get quite a few of these faults Mugsy. The static pressure is normal but open up a tap and the pressure quickly drops off and in some cases stops running altogether - it's the pressure reducing valve that's at fault alright. Static...

    Un vented system hot water

Hi David, I'm a G3 registered person (until next March anyway that's when my ticket runs out and if I don't pay up to re-register then I suddenly become unsafe to work on unvented systems - crazy init)? I'm getting carried away here and guess you are not really interested in trade politics and...

    Fitting replacement tap cartridge.

It's not a conventional one I can tell you that. Be prepared to fit a new tap altogether, spares will be hard to find and possibly cost more than a new tap would. servotech,

    Central heating layout

It's a standard two pipe central heating system with each radiator return going direct to the boiler. Vertical radiators are nowhere near as efficient horizontal ones, so do bear this in mind especially if you like to be toasty warm in winter!

    How to fix kitchen tap?

You could try and solder the top back onto the spindle by feeding the solder through the old top screw hole which will then become defunct?

Expansion vessel ruptured twice in 11mths (Tornado unvented indirect)

It's quite a problem with these expansion vessels isn't it. During the manufacture of them Im told that the inner coating sprayed on to protect them dosen't always fully get into the seems hence they rust up in no time. You could try a different manufacturer? Making them out of copper would be...

Replacing cold water tank - metal brackets in wall

That tank's as been leaking on/off for a very long time, so be careful with it because it's base will now be as thin as tissue paper. You need to build a brand new flat level base out of timber for the new tank to stand on. Flood warning...Personally I'd tie up the ball-valve and drain down...

Immersion heater / plastic storage tank

Ah, the plumbing jigsaw pieces now fit together diy (expansion pipe missing tank). Regulations are not retrospective diy, hence, if it was legal when it was fitted it's still legal today (in spite of new different ones being more recently passed).
