Electric only Heating & Hot water

In that case, I've not understood your first post. I thought that you were planning to replace storage heaters with a small vented wet radiator system (containing water). You could certainly fit a new 900 x 450 cylinder with an immersion heater and size down that large cylinder and you should...

Electric only Heating & Hot water

Electric boilers though a "little out of fashion" at the moment, they are very compact reliable and cheap to buy, will happily run radiators, in-fact they sound ideal for your small flat. Use a small high recovery cylinder to save extra space. Nothing wrong at all with your thinking...

    Boiler undersized question?

It seems to be the boiler that's at fault... it needs a good check over. You could take the thermostat Phial out of the boiler and boil the system for a short time.

    Megaflow Hot Water problem

Try pulling some hot water through the pressure/temperature release valve. What method do you use for heating up the water?

What is a Pressure Limiter Supposed to Do, Exactly?

Is there a gauge fitted on the pressure reducing valve so that you can check if the valve as been set properly? I've been to quite a few that have been reduced far too much or not enough in some instances.

BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE A, where is the heating program/timer

Yes, you will get an instruction leaflet in the package (just connect the terminals). I've a picture of a mechanical one somewhere. I know us older ones (who can't see the modern tiny digitals very well) just like things to be really simple. Mechanical plug in timer picture. Once fitted...

    Bedding in toilet on packers

Can you chop out the brickwork beneath the soil pipe and lower the pipe this way? Must say I don't like to see toilets raised on anything.

BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE A, where is the heating program/timer

No need to, it should work in conjunction with the time clock, but the time clock once fitted will have priority over the room stat.

How hot should my shower get?

Although 8.5 is very powerful it will struggle in winter to deliver a hot shower. The thermal cut out is a device to prevent scalding and the fact that it is regularly operating on a 8.5 KW shower would indicate a poor water flow rate causing the overheat (so this needs looking at firstly). I...

BAXI DUO-TEC COMBI 24 HE A, where is the heating program/timer

Pic2 - that large circle on the right hand side will punch out, you can buy a baxi time clock which simply plugs in. Turning the room stat up and down is probably the only method that's ever been used to control the heating...

    Gas installer not gas safe

The RGI upon signing off takes full responsibility for the whole gas installation in the property right up until the next person who works on that installation (who then takes over the responsibility). Gas safe make the rules that we have...

Water hammer; is it the tap?

It will be the cartridge in the tap that's causing the problem (although it's not always the one inside the tap that the noise appears to be emitting from). servotech,

    Glow worm BBU replacement coals

I can remember Glow-worm running a large trade advertising campaign for a new device called the "Glowbetween" that enabled you to fit a new gas fire onto an old bb unit (would have been ideal for you 20 years ago) ! Can't say that I ever fitted one though and the Glowbetween was doomed to be...

    Noisy PRV

Yes the one's I've come across don't emit any noise. A treble bump when taps are turned off was cured by changing the dome head of the PRV. As I stated above the noise you described is more like something restricting the flow of water and not reducing the water pressure. Is the stop tap below...

    Noisy PRV

The large plastic dome on the PRV will unscrew to reveal a filter and there could be something in this. Failing this I would take it back to your supplier and swop it for another one (you just need to change the dome). Don't forget to turn the water off first!! Servotech,

Extra 22mm boss on HWC, can I use it for shower pump?

The manufacturers are not plumbers and often go off on a whim about something of very little consequence to the plumbing trade. The thing that is more important is the size of your supply tank above. A power shower running full bore can empty quite a large one (hot and cold are being drawn off...

    Noisy PRV

It sounds like the PRV is restricting the rate of flow not the pressure. Have you any valves surrounding it that have been partially closed off ? What have you set the PRV too? servotech,
