    Tundish

Yes, this is normal. A good careful plumber will bring a towel with him/her and place it underneath before testing the PR. servotech,

    Low level toilet with s-bend?

You will have to combine this with a flush-pipe and plastic cistern. Don't forget to test if there is room for the seat to go back (you adjust the hight of the cistern cistern to get the angle were it will stay up). These S trap pans are hard to find these days so thumbs up to stardanny for...

    Boiler/heating system - help

I'm sure it's a faulty utility metre that you've got (more common than anyone realises). However, the utilities won't want to know about this and it will take some mighty effort from yourself in order to get a refund. Put it down to experience and just tell them that you would like a new...

You need to do it on the affected shower. It's one you that won't find in any plumbing manual !

    Gradually loses shower pressure

No no, it's a genuine trick that works if you have genuine air in pipework problems. I've not used it much I admit, but it's one well worth having in your locker. For the (shall we say unscientific) amongst us - it's setting up a syphon and pulling the water through the shower via syphonage...

    Gradually loses shower pressure

First thoughts is that the shower as insufficient head of water. The shower head needs to be a minimum of 1 metre below the base of the tank for it to work properly. However, as you say as worked normally in the past so it could be trapping air in the pipework. Make sure that the...

    "Blocked" System

Where the cold feed enters the central heating system is where you find most of the blockages of this kind, so if the junction below the pump is the one that takes in the cold feed the above statement does fit.

    Whining noise from hot taps.

Baxi Combi' boiler. It only happens when the central heating's in the on position and then when any hot tap is turned on that the noise starts up.

I am going to scream if this happens again! Why, why, why?

Are there a lot of green spots along the pipework and it's these that keep leaking? If so the pipe itself has been attacked and will need complete replacement.. Usually happens if waters been stood for a long time. For the scientific it's called "copper solvency". servotech,

    boiler lockout

The fact that the boiler actually starts up and runs for a while suggests it's ************* behind your problem. Like everyone says call a Gas-safe engineer. ------------------- No it does not. Mod

Primus 2000 burner to Rothenberg disposable cylinder

I've never had a problem exchanging Primus bottles either. About 20 years ago I tried that Sievert burner only to find the black material that surrounds the burner started to melt away after only 10 months. I'd say it's a big NO to using Mapp gas with that burner.

Mira Advance ATL Thermostatic shower reset

I've come across this loud beep noise on the ATL once before and the only way to stop the ruddy row it was to turn the electricity supply to the shower off. I couldn't fix it, but I seem to recall that the fault was in the front cover mechanism so if you could get a new front cover that should...

    Poor upstairs water pressure solution

It's the one with the circular red top usually in the middle of the airing cupboard with the pipe leading to the bottom of the cylinder. Increasing the size of this pipe to 28mm will improve the flow as would lifting the hight of the cold water storage tank in the loft. All the above I...

    Poor upstairs water pressure solution

I think you may have a blockage in the cold feed. Checking that the gate valve in the airing cupboard isn't stuck/restricted would be my first check. servotech,

Gravity fed central heating..... Aghhhhh ! ! Can anyone help

Gravity is a very simple system stick to the basics because any attempt to complicate it will result in problems - keep it simple (take note HETAS) is my advice. Adding to my above notes regarding the one pipe central heating system using swept tees for the radiator stabs would be a big...

Gravity fed central heating..... Aghhhhh ! ! Can anyone help

I'm afraid it's a myth about taking the flow connection to the top of the radiator (it will achieve nothing except a sludge build up over the years at the bottom corner of the radiator). I cannot recommend TRVs either for this system just one wheel valve/ rad; the bigger the better. Like I...

Gravity fed central heating..... Aghhhhh ! ! Can anyone help

I'm old school trained and have worked on gravity systems in the past. You need big pipes - 28mm primaries with a steady rise all the way to the cylinder (level at least). You are allowed a dipped return to the boiler this is something like 1/10 of the circulating hight (you need to know...

Gravity fed central heating..... Aghhhhh ! ! Can anyone help

I like how these diagrams always show the bore holes to be straight whilst in practice they veer off at all kinds of odd angles  servotech,
