Unvented cylinder - vibrating noise after h/w is drawn off.

A larger expansion vessel; I'd never thought of that;did it cure your water hammer? Customer says it was all fine until the water board did some work outside and ever since they've had this awful water hammer. I've already fitted a isolation valve to adjust the pressure with no effect until...

help! cavity wall insulation done and now mould grows!

I was taught that you needed a cavity and air flow to stop moisture traveling from the outside walls to the inside walls! All this seems to have been forgotten about these days! Who knows what problems we are causing for the future by the current obsession of filling our cavity walls with...

Unvented cylinder - vibrating noise after h/w is drawn off.

Got called to this today. It sounds just like the water hammer that we used to get from the from the ballvalve on a vented system and yes opening the cold tap does stop the noise. The pipework seems secure and well clipped. I think it could be the pressure reducing valve that's at fault Any...

    Hot water priority !!

It is the normal for hot water to be prioritised on central heating systems/boilers so your installer is correct this time.

    1 radiator not working......

On a combi draining down is more or less instant (just 30 seconds to release the pressure) then just a couple of old towels around the valve to soak up drips. No problem! I would think about fitting a good quality manual valve instead of a TRV (they are all rubbish)! servotech,

    Soil stack advice

I don't know if this is possible but you could dig down outside and locate the drain then divert onto the outside wall. All you need then is chop out a new hole through the wall and pipe it up to the new WC.!! No need to vent because of the upstairs soil stack/vent.

    Boiler - Hot water problems

    1. Try removing the purple wire off the gas valve and run the hot tap. 2. If the boiler stays on with a low flame put the purple wire back. 3. If the flame then goes out it's probally the callibation of the gas valve that needs re-setting. servotech,

    Plumbers tool??

My local water authority did ban the use of this tool back in the mid-seventies - and I've never used mine since. But "hey oh" what goes around tends to come around I guess. I remember having to re-pipe an entire CH system once because of all the leaks were these things had been used...

    Soil stack advice

[/url] I've seen that type of WC on the continent. Could be the answer but I suspect the existing position of the drain governs the position of the toilet. i.e. You still might have to timber out or worse still it brings the WC too close to the wall and it won't fit. Memster...

    Soil stack advice

A good plumbers merchant should be able to get you a S trap pan and then just fit a traditional pot cistern with a flush-pipe to it. Keep it simple. The problems you mention occur everytime we do a conversion to a close coupled pan/cistern. I would think you will need permission from the...

Baxi Combi 105e - Hot water problem.

You say that you live in a hard water area. The only way the hard water releases it's limescale deposits is by being boiled and once it's been boiled it won't leave anymore of it's deposits behind (so the sealed ch heating system side of your boiler is okay). However, the problem is that on...

pipework for central heating - is this work OK?

I must admit it's not an exam quality piece of pipework, however, I've seen far worse. However, you must never chase heating pipes into the wall like that - big problems!! For a start the bricks and plaster will draw the heat out of the pipes and warm up the wall lovely!!. The plaster will...

    The crumbustion chamber?

It won't work like that though will it. The company involved with the registration would have to assess you and for that privillage you will have to pay them your hard earned cash. Meanwhile the unregistered plumber would still continue to do plumbing 'cause they just don't give a toss...

Solid fuel fire with back boiler

To comply with Part L you must fit a lot of controls which in turn try to control something that cannot be fully controlled and therein is todays problem with SF/CH and the reason most plumbers have now stopped installing it. My advice is don't bother with it because it belongs in the past...

    The crumbustion chamber?

I can tell you that us gasmen are all under tremendous stress. Get it wrong and we could find ourselfs on a manslaughter charge (serious ****)! That's why the public can't enter the CC and why we all deserve every penny that we earn! servotech,

    Electric Showers....

All electric showers work in the same manor they restrict the flow of water flowing through the unit in order to raise the water temperature - so the more time that the water spends in the unit the hotter it becomes. In winter the temperature in the cold mains can be so low that in order to get...

IMPROVE HOT WATER FLOW TO KITCHEN TAPS IN BUNGALOW

One more thing - If the cylinder is below in the airig cupboard and the h/w as to be forced back up and over you should also be able to improve things by lifting the cylinder to a higher position. servotech,
