    Water pressure problem

20mm Mdpe pipe from the street is usually sufficient, however going bigger costs little more as the cost is in the dig. 15 mm internal is not usually a problem. Most of the problems i encounter are due to 5Lb lead supply pipes which have the diameter of a pencil IF they are not furred up...

    Water pressure problem

A new pipe is laid from the street. Cost depends on distance from street, ease of dig, is ther concrete to get through etc. A mole can be used sometimes. Around london i expect to start around 2k roughly but have seen one that cost 30 odd k. Only way to answer that is to get quotes.

Just signed up at Local College to do Bpec Gas Foundation

Yes, partly, i was one of these Big problem i think though is the upsurge in insurances from BG and water boards which are soaking up the smaller emergency jobs. Decline started about 2-3 yrs ago but this year has been very bad.

I Know:I'll Write A Letter To A Magazine And Show Myself Up!

Last year i was called to replace a broken washing machine with a new one. Nothing wrong with the old one, a rat had chewed the cable which was touching the case. Dunno what happened to the earth but fuse was intact and case was live. Totally caught me by suprise.

    Shower Water Pressures

Do you really mean poor pressure or poor flow rate ? For a given electrical power input the flow rate depends upon the incoming water temp and the set temp. Increasing flow rate reduces the temp. Personally i find a modern 9.5 KW shower quite acceptable. When they first came out a lot of...

Shower Pump on Shared Cold Supply

    >>should be easy to get the ensuit into the mains, just tee into the mains that feeds the header tank, then you have a dedicated cold feed to the pump That unfortunatley was how i read it origionally, seen it done from adjacent mains fed toilet. >>due to the pressure being trapped...

Shower Pump on Shared Cold Supply

Problem is that the shower has pumped hot which could force its way back into the mains supply thus contaminating the public main with water from the header tank. I have actualy seen this once in a customers house where a double check valve was stuck open. A double check valve does not give...

    Leak advice needed!

Not sure if i read this correctly, i assumed that he was talking about the service valve feeding the washer being the cause of the leak. A fairly common fault and the increase in pressure from vented to sealed system could easily be enough to fail an old or lose sealing washer.

    Pricing Domestic Electrical work

I think that the BBC published a book showing what householders should expect to pay for various typical jobs around the house. Cannot remember the name though, could try the library.

what do you think to these new training courses ?

I think that most ask for C&G BS 7671 so it depends on the part p course you do and the exam at the end. The part p i did was only recognised by Elecsa at the time And possibly corgi but i do not do notifiable work anyway so not registering.

    Whats wrong in this pic?

The drill is too long preventing the replacement of the top. A .22 caliber bullet would be a better choice.

funny smell off kitchen hot water

Dishcloths, drying cloths and kitchen sinks have more bacteria than in a tiolet. Drying cloths should be changed daily. Dish cloths rarely dry out between uses and are best sterilised before each use. You need to check you header tank. Water can sometimes get to be smelly though once the...

Unvented cylinder, is this too much and how to get quotes

Three houses in my row have recently had new boilers as have my parents in banbury. 3 BG 1 Private. All the BG jobs were reasonably priced and all were happy with the installation. No 4 were happy but i think cost somewhat more. I have seen all 4 and standards were good. Some of...
