    Thank you to the people who replied. I've carried out a close examination of the saw mark and decided that it's irrelevant, probably less than a quarter mm deep. The slight groove in the pipe has excited my usual paranoia concerning anything to do with water.

    Bahco Thank you for replying. What I'm trying to find out from a qualified plumber is over a period of time, will the pipe weaken and leak. It's in an awkward position and cannot be monitored once I put the furniture back in the room.

    BoxBasher Can I just put a 'dollop' of Araldite on it to strengthen it, or am I worrying unnecessarily? There is no 'cheap' way I can replace the pipe as it's alongside a joist and goes from one bedroom to another. Also, the end I can see has a soldered joint, so presumably, does the...

    It is so shallow I couldn't measure it, i.e. between .25 and .5 mm. When you run your finger over it you can feel it and it can be seen.

    I have accidentally caught a .5" copper radiator pipe with a saw. There is a little saw mark on the pipe but no leak. Would a mix of the 2-part Araldite prevent it from getting worse? Thank you.
