Which is the best martial art to learn?

[ How long have PROKUMITE been going? I've never heard of them before (i'll have a good read of their site later). Is it based on the same Kumite from Asia that was featured in the Bloodsport film with Van Damme? It's not been around for long, they are fight promoters, but I've seen the set...

Which is the best martial art to learn?

Gratuitous violence does sicken me. You have obviously reached the limit of your knowledge of martial arts.

Which is the best martial art to learn?

LD are you competing in MMA now. You should check out PROKUMITE and let me know what you think. I'm trying to get one of my guys to have a try at cage fighting, kick boxing with low kicks. He's a strong fighter and much better than some I've seen in the cage, even without the training.

Which is the best martial art to learn?

On the right as I'm the highest grade. It's a kata called TSUKI NO KATA which translates as 'punching kata'. As a layman you wouldn't understand what it's all about. It's a powerful kata which develops strong techniques when moving through different stances.

Which is the best martial art to learn?

For some reason I don't seem to have thousands of combat piccies. This is probably the best I have that a layman can relate to. It's my Chief Instructor, Frank T Perry, an absolutely fantastic karateka.

Which is the best martial art to learn?

Judo is the sport side of Ju Jitsu. It was thought that Ju Jitsu was too deadly to use as a competetive sport, so all the nasty bits were taken out and it became judo. Though now it has become competetive, with a lot of MMA cage fighters training in ju jitsu. I have trained in judo, aikido...

    Loft conversion/Cut Purlin

I've just finished a loft conversion where half the loft had already been done. That had the new joists running opposite to the existing ceiling joists. It was about 12yrs old and it had sagged like you wouldn't believe. When you put a 6ft level on the ceiling, at one end you could fit your hand...

Take a look at the ceilings below to see if they are lath and plaster, if they are, has he put in any chicken wire.

    Loft conversion/Cut Purlin

No probs. Sometimes you will get something like this, where the rafters extend down to meet extended joists. Not on this one though, that's a full seat on the rafters. I'd like to see what's on the other side of that 9in wall. Something to brace it I hope, before he cuts a window in the...

    Loft conversion/Cut Purlin

Shy Give me some credit, please. On most of the lofts I've done if the purlin can't be hidden with a wall or something, they are normally taken out. One architect I worked with in London would only have 600mm upstands and no purlins left in unless hidden. On these lofts we'd put in new...

    Loft conversion/Cut Purlin

The first thing I'd ask, has the purlin been left in on the drawings. If it has there should be a detail to explain what was wanted around the window opening. If there's no detail then whoever done the drawings has not done their job properly. If there is a detail then the builder should have...

    cut rafter roofs

Noseall Next time you are around your local town, check the book shops for the Roofing Ready Reckoner by Ralph Goss. A brilliant little book, costs about £14. I've just bought a new one, it was a case of lending my old one out and not remembering who it was. When you look at the tables you...
