    22mm flooring chipbard

I'm with catlad on the 600 c/c but I guess the theory still works with 400's. But it always seems to get messy around trimmers and double trimmers etc.

For the sake if our argument they are the t&g ones.

    22mm flooring chipbard

I've just had a couple of new chippy's start and there was a difference of opinion.... One gang always cut the edge of the flooring so it lands on a joist, they say never have the ends of the board unsupported. The other gang always just lays the boards in the 2.4m entirety, so if the join...

    timber spacings.....

i'm guessing by the difference of opinion here that I need an engineer to look at it and put his name to it.

    timber spacings.....

Certainly interesting, essentially what BC have said is that they would be happy with them, as long as a qualified engineer was willing to sign it off.

    Wet Cut v Dry Cut

I suppose the only answer is to call them? Its hard to tell from that document if its just a guideline - or that its enforceable.

    Wet Cut v Dry Cut

I can't believe it is banned - so many contractors all over the place don't bother with them, even the local council contractors.....i just wondered if there was a genuine reg on this sort of thing.

    timber spacings.....

Thanks Tony. It's what I'd hoped. We're a bit governed by all of the existing ceiling joists that have been retained so space is at a premium. I guess we'll get them in where we can. Also, as an afterthought. There was a block spine wall in the middle (ish), founding it amongst all of the...

    Wet Cut v Dry Cut

We have recently had a complaint about the levels of dust from a site we are on, (interesting neighbourhood!). We tend to dry cut with the stihl saw, mainly because we don't do a lot of cutting, but alas, the neighbour is unhappy. I wondered if there was actually a guideline...

    timber spacings.....

.....bit of a long story, but a surveyor on a job that we are on has made an incorrect measurement and as such our 8x2 timber span is now well over the max span according to the tables. The clear span we need to make is 4500mm. UNfortunately the 8x2 is in place at 400 c/c. I wondered if we...

    is this building extension wrong

This is good advice. The work looks terrible, but the planners wont care about that. You need to get a good CS in to make your case, but i'd also take some of tony' advice as well, if its not a massive infringement, then is it worth falling out massively over? also, the pictures look like they...

the 65mm closer is fine - but you have missed it out of your diagram on the left hand side

    Why always the last payment.....

I realise that Eddie, just a shame the situation came about. AS the business grows i'm always looking for neater ways of tying up the contract side of things, payments etc. We live and learn.

    Why always the last payment.....

A process we've started doing is pricing extra's up before doing them so that people can authorise them there and then and we don't end up in this position. BUt there always seem to be a few things that need to be actioned immediately.

    Why always the last payment.....

We never hold the keys as ransom as it were, we just like to give everything over in one go and make it clean, so invoice, keys, certification etc. We put new doors in throughout the house and it was un-lived in, but he had a key to every door except one, it wasn't like we were stopping him...
