    Why always the last payment.....

......why is it customers always stall on completion payments??? We've finished a lovely job, immaculate finish internally, painted, carpets the lot, like a ****ing show home. Invoiced - nothing! No response. I even leave people with a 5% holding payment as part of the contract...

    Cavity vs 140mm & Dot+Dab vs 190mm & Dot+Dab?

Celcon or Thermalite would tell you 6 and 1 for laying and if i'm not mistaken, they suggest you mesh the external blockwork and then render with something mad like a 8 and 1

Neighbour's Party Wall surveyor has billed me... for nothing

+1 At dissent you don;t get to choose the surveyor, they do, and you become liable for their fees, as TonyW2 says weather they are reasonable is another mater. If there is further dissent the 2 party wall surveyors prior to working on the case agree the name of a 3rd surveyor in case of...

    Bricklayer Costs and time

Mate, you just simply can't gleam that information from a site like this. There are many things to consider; if you want labour only, are you definitely going to have all of the materials required and on site at the appropriate time, what if he runs out of feb mix mid run, whose...

Did our brickie do it wrong?

Mate, your missing the point, and in the first instance there's no need to call people idiotic for having a difference of opinion to you. The chap didn't say he wanted a level access, just that he didn't want a massive threshold. If you've been around the building game long enough you'll...

    Concrete slab in stages

Thats over 7 cubes - get a small pump on - off the back through pipes and bobs your uncle. Should be more than cost effective to do that much work.

Did our brickie do it wrong?

The purpose of the 150 splash barrier is to stop the masonry above the DPC getting saturated. If you lower the door by a course (or thereabouts) you are not infringing on the splash barrier, therefore its not a bad idea. If the moisture splashes on to the door at greater heights than the cill it...
