Am I just being stupid or have I missed something?

Hello So, I am autistic and I am disabled. So, please note that with being heavily medicated with multiple medications including morphine, my brain has these bits in time where I can’t workout the simple tasks. So please forgive my lack of explanation or too much info not required here. So, I...

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

Yeah, fully understand that about the heat will destroy the “Tempered” metal, if that’s a word I can use from chocolate making. The bit that has me confused is the grit of the wheels, fine… yeah for a smoother finish, course removes more with the bigger grits… but the stones I have seen so...

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

I feel like I am being a bit stupid here. How do I tell what grit and what stones to be used for each and different pieces. Example sharpening gardening tools like axes to fine woodworking blades that require big chip removal, to drill bits. I have looked at some stones, and they say corse...

Delivery they say no, alternative trade only?

Post code yes, house no. No Customer support say that my home is in a military installation and won’t deliver here. Even though it’s not, we have had this problem since we moved here back in the 90’s when I was a child. Yes I am 36 but still live at home, as I am disabled and autistic...

Delivery they say no, alternative trade only?

Hello So, screw fix in my area deliver via the sprint delivery 60mins, however my home is over looked, and I don’t think I can get it delivered as they call it out of town. My home is the last house on the outskirts of the city, and its military things further out, but you can’t access the road...

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

Hello I have also found another bench grinder, what are your thoughts on Kamasa-Tools 506 CBG bench grinder

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

I have found a bench grinder, not sure if it’s going to be a good one. I think it’s a SIP 07792 around the £30 mark, I don’t know if it’s still available but wanted to see if it’s a good one or not.

Rivet too big but too small - solution?

Sorry, I can’t get pictures of the holes in the tool, but I can say it’s twice the diameter of the holes in the hooks. I am using 4.8mm by 22mm but the depth of the bracket just won’t flare the rivet enough. I shall use the washers to see if that will do what I need.

Rivet too big but too small - solution?

Hello I an in the need to replace some hooks on a tools body, made from sheet steel, but the hooks I am using as a replacement is not flat, but square, so it needs to have depth to go through the hook and the sheet steel, all this is no problem, the rivet is the same size hole as the bracket...

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

For the bench grinder, I need to sharpen about 30 chisels, 1 plane blade, hoping for more second hand old ones in the future that may need sharpening, I don’t know if you can on all bench grinders or just the couple of YouTubers doing so, attaching belts for sanding or honing, polishing and wire...

Would these tools be beneficial to me?

Hello I am trying to get into woodworking, metal tinkering, soldering and repairing some computer equipment and parts, with some 3d printing in the future too. I have a small workshop, it’s not bigger than a bike shed to be honest, it’s 6ft 3” wide, and 36” deep, with my workbench being 600mm...

    90° driver attachment issue?

Okay, sorry. When I hold the angle Chuck, the driver bit stays where I need it. Photo one shows this at a 90° angle. As soon as I let go of the angle Chuck, it “drops” back downwards due to gravity. See pic 2. I don’t have the space to get my arm in behind the leg of a table, or pipes for...

    90° driver attachment issue?

Hello I don’t think I have seen an answer to this question yet, if I have read someone asking it. So I have a couple 90° driver attachments, I think one is 80° but anyway I hate the things but I need to use one. My problem is when I need to drive in say a screw at 90° from the floor, there...

    Where can I get…

Very true, but I now have those bits that made the old saw a death trap… in my opinion anyway… The SIP saw, that was the death trap, has been rebuilt and the mechanism, the motor and handles upgraded/replaced by the other saw that’s in good shape. The donor saw was rebuilt by a former engineer...

    Where can I get…

I know it’s a bit of a Frankenstein’s table saw, but it’s safe, it has been stripped down, cleaned, repaired or replaced parts. All I have done is unbolt the table top, removed it, put on the “death trap” top. I then just changed the front housing so the power supply is all correct and safe...

    Where can I get…

In theory I just need the flap section or just the actual switch. As long as the electrical connections are the same, I should be good, but Axminster wouldn’t sell me anything else as the Amp on the saw is 10, but they only had 15a plus. Technically… kind of… I brought a new saw (second hand)...

    Where can I get…

Hello A few months ago, maybe early December, I went up to a store called Axminster as it’s easier to try and show what I need replacements for, but they weren’t really that helpful, and they refused to sell me a replacement power switch (as their replacement has a higher amp), even though I...

Rewire plug lights to a switch?

Yeah, that is what I was originally going to do, however I have a brand new light switch, with the 16mm back box and extension bits from last week as someone came to do work on my stairlift and we was going to see if he would change the light switch, but we did it ourselves and realised we had...

Rewire plug lights to a switch?

Not wanting any extension leads, I am just trying to clean up some of the wires, so keeping the other sockets free, I have 7 sockets with Alexa, mitre saw and drill press taking one each. My thinking was if I put these lights on a switch, it would free up and allow me to charge the spare...

Rewire plug lights to a switch?

As the nights are getting darker, and will be for a few months, I plan to do some work in my little workshop, where popper is only switched on when I am using the shop. I have a clear roof, so it allows as much daylight as possible, but we are in the UK, and darkness is something we have to...
