    RCD and boiler circuit

Wouldn't touch it myself and would refer it to a heating engineer / GSR man/woman

What kind of incoming electrical connections are these?

Doesn't look very dormant to me the meter is still on its showing 44 units used and doesn't look old enough to have gone round the clock. You cant have it ripped out if you have only just have it put in your supplier would think you were nuts.

    wall socket replacements

And it's often quoted by very experienced sparks who are trying to justify not doing the job up to scratch saying "well the state i left it in is certainly no worse than the existing before the job started". Another often miss-understood thing relates to departures from 7671, 133.5 is very...

    Type of earthing system

As said above you need to identify where the DNO supply enters the building. TN-S, TN-C-S, & TT relate to the DNO earthing at the supply not to what is in flat 1, flat 2 Etc. From this and your other posts today on this site i presume you are Diying a HMO, if thats the case then my only advise...

2 gang light switch-1970's to now

The OP does not mention the switch being moved and I can see no evidence of such in the photos????? "poorly made joint" ! I presume a rewire has taken place on this circuit with the existing fixtures being reused. Could these not be posabilities?

    Can I remove this?

Could be worth you copy & pasting this to the Telecoms section there could be an experianced- old timer on there that could pos identify this as old GPO probs telling you all about it as well. If not then I would recommend you get a local spark to establish the source of the fixture before you...

    Can I remove this?

I was thinking something telecoms related, was the property ever used commercially, maybe it's the PSU for an internal switchboard. Apart from that I am clueless from those pics.

    Shower switch wiring

You need to establish why that live is "burning out" is it arcing due to a loose connection or something else? Putting a new bb and switch in will not solve your wiring issue unless its a loose connection at the switch terminals that you are replacing. Do you have RCD protection on that...

We need to talk about Kevin, sorry, I mean ban-all-sheds

Many on the above forum are also condescending pr1cks, many belive that because they have been playing with cables since the dawn of electricity that they can inform everyone else of 'how it's done' without any regard to the current regs because that's what they have done for years. It's just...

    110 soil - 68 strap boss

I will have to revert to plan B then, I realise now that the top of the down pipe where the gutter is would effectively act as a vent and as its below the roof that's a no. Thanks for the help though chaps.

    110 soil - 68 strap boss

Does anybody know where I can get a strap boss for 110 soil to 68 rain water? Does such a fitting exist?

Time flies and I need to move....my tumble dryer to the bathroom

As a shower was not mentioned in the OP then I presume any shower fitted would be an over bath type with probably a standard sh1t so called shower curtain , personally I don't subject the whole room to water jets but my teenage kids don't seem to be able to shower without doing so despite the...

Time flies and I need to move....my tumble dryer to the bathroom

Humidity from drying output will not be a problem but i really feel that the IP rating is very relevant be it intended as a joke or not by previous posters. The dryer will need an 'airflow' so that's clean dry air in and clean dry air out, ok so lets say as we presume no problems with that...

Old Light Switch Wont Turn Off

Surley Vulcanised India is all the rage in todays, must have, cheap & trendy from the far east world! Are you telling me this stuff is no good? Joking aside i think the OP needs a full health check up on their internal wiring, an ECIR costs nothing when compared to a life and the results one...

Advice required for wiring in a new light unit

1st job is to rip out that stranded round FLEX that you have put in and use flat twin & earth at the appropriate size, then you need an FCU between your socket circuit and the new lamp holder. Look at the Wiki for examples of how it MUST be done.

    Bathroom Pull Light Switch

Good move, best to not randomly stick wires into terminals unless you understand what they are doing, in which case it would not be random.

Earth leakage trips with various appliances

Get the DNO guy to do his bit as you are, if he is happy with all their gear (inc the elcb if they put it in) then you work from there. He will hopefully do some tests see if he is happy to share the results with you, maybe some light can be shed on a few things on here.

RCD tripping instantly despite nothing plugged in

But have you hammered any nails in or done any drilling elsewhere? Cables have been known to take many weird and wounderful routes.

    Electrical Condition Inspection Report

ECIR's are carried out looking at current regs, however the compliance with older regs and often lack of compliance with current regs cannot mean a "fail", in such a circumstance a C3 should be given , a C3 means ‘Improvement recommended’ as iggifer above has stated unless unless the danger is...
