Adding more ways to 16 way mk consumer unit

What did the LABC officer say when you asked them BEFORE you started the work? Were they ok with you doing this alteration to the BB? D'oh, you didn't notify did you! My advise would be to STOP work now and get onto BC on Tuesday morning telling them your plans they will then guide you...

Adding more ways to 16 way mk consumer unit

I take it this board replaces the 10 outgoing way Hager that you had back in November? http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/shocking-installation.382693/ If so then a couple of points, some of the incorrect circuit arrangements on that board appear to have been copied onto this board with...

Bathroom Extractor with timer & humidstat wiring

Is it a two way a switch with 3 terminals? If it is then you have the switched live in the wrong terminal, put it in the same terminal as the light. EG if marked COM, L1, L2 then put in L1 with light If it's marked L1 L2 L3 then put in L2 with light.

Bathroom Extractor with timer & humidstat wiring

Fig 8 is showing the connection to the light not the DP or any other means of total isolation. I think for isolation you need to be looking at one of the other diagrams 5, 6, or 7. But if the model is the CRZ then like others have said I would be looking to put in 3 pole isolation. Edit...

Wiring in loft - safe or not?

Nothing in your pictures suggests that your house is about to go up in smoke but it is a very untidy job. Is some of the wiring from an older installation as in couple of pictures the old pre 1995 colours are evident? Edit: Pre 70's green only earth in image 3 :?:

    age of electrics

I would get an EICR done if I were you that will tell you the condition of the wiring, it will also tell you if you have an earth at that toggle light switch.

Wiring a conservatory-changing consumer unit location help

If the fuse box is the main box it will not be 6mm cable. Not being rude but all this work needs to be carried out by a competent electrician from your post you don't appear to be such a person. These are new circuits you can not just hook up some wires, cable sizing, route, type, load...

Perm on ceiling light, power switches not working

Lesson learnt? Next time follow the following steps: 1) Call a qualified electrician. Or 2) When you encounter wires and you don't know what they are for, refer to step 1. The reds, browns, black could be anything , DON'T presume. "I'm pretty sure the earth is the single solid strand...

Tool for digging very narrow trench - can't remember name

You need to ask this on the sparks forum, there are rules about how deep you need to go regarding the trench depth not to mention cable sizing and termination. You can't just drop a length of SWA into a channel, not if you want to sell your house in the future anyway, you must work within the...

Buying a house, concerns on the electrics

If the boiler was done by someone like BG they may have put in an RCD fused spur, eliminating the need for an RCD at the fuse box, unless a new circuit was added. Re the Bathroom nothing probably changed unless an electric shower was added that was not there before. The Kitchen is another...

    Is this set up okay?

It's VERY wrong but at least you have an MCB it's probably totally the wrong rating but it something, nothing should run from the cooker circuit apart from the oven and hob. What KWH rating is your cooker? When was this work done? If you find it was after 2005 you should have received certs...

Brick wall - Is this a sign of subsidence or something else?

Sorry it's just in your first post you said you have bought the house. You need to wait and see what the surveyor says, but do use your own surveyor and don't just rely on the banks survey as only they have a means for any comeback on that not you.
