    Off Shore Sparks here?

Hi chaps, It seems my electrical training/ assessing time with my current company is at an end with the announcement of redundancies (73 in total). They are making new jobs (45 in total) but the companies plans have stirred up hornets nests across the board. As such I am looking for work...

Well if it's questions you want answering you will usually get a response. Make sure you know what you are asking and you will normally get a reply. GL

    IP4X and IPXXD

GN3 "The test is made with a straight rigid steel wire of 1 mm + 0.05/0 mm diameter applied with a force of 1 N +/- 10%. The end of the wire must be free from burrs, and at a right angle to its length" I know it's petty and probably not worth worrying about but it says straight and right...

    IP4X and IPXXD

GN3 concurs with your explanation of IP4X but it doesn't give any guidance on IPXXD. Protection against "Wires and strips of thickness greater than 1.0mm, and solid objects exceeding 1.0mm in diameter". The test probe has to be greater than 1.0mm then otherwise 1.0mm will enter. What does...

    IP4X and IPXXD

My head is sconed and need the assistance of my learned forum members. I had it clear in my head but when I wanted to express it my way, I've got myself confused with all the different interpretations over the net (and I don't have the £150 for BS EN 60529 Once I've written this it will...

    Continuity and IR Test questions

Althought conducting continuity of cpc is required it's value need not be verified. Rather than scratching my head I would conduct an earth loop impedance test on the furthest point and verify that value. If it fails that then investigate. Test results and maths don't usually sing from the same...

    Supplementary bonding.

I do? So it won't need bonding no matter what differences in potential exist or whether the room circuits have additional protection? Is that what you are saying ricipops?

    Supplementary bonding.

Are the circuits in the bathroom protected by RCD? Is the resistance between extraneous metal work (the pipes and rads, taps etc) greater than 1667 Ω ? If yes and no then you don't need to add supplementary bonding to the rad pipes. If no and no then you don't need to add...

    Testing

"They" say around 30 years. Installations this old now may show signs of brittle PVC where heat has been a minor issue.

    RECENT C & G 2382 question

:D There is only one correct answer. Contacting the "supply undertaking" would only ever be considered if the installer suspected the table was not valid. The table points you to this fact. One answer.

I thought a good one was one I posted a while back. Name the first three tests to be conducted on a live installation.

I hope one day we can get a good 2391 question. Much more of a debate.

IP rating photo - electrical equipment on an external wall

I would recommend Minimum IP11 but a thorough examination to ensure IP1X once vertical drops have ceased. 8)

    NICEIC Inspection

Well there is the law and there is prosecution. Avoiding only one of them is an option. I would call it dependant relationship but I think if you weren't worried about dodging the law you would already be looking at the inspection report. 8)
