    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I`ve decided to just double lock the door. Saves having to mess around with locks and letter boxes. Maybe eventually could put the letter box on the side wall below the window and like you say block up the existing letter box. Thanks for help.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Thanks but i`d rather not go that route, trying to keep the front door looking nice as its an original door so the less add ons the better really. any other options using the existing lock arrangement?

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I checked this and yes its a issue, something you cant do with the current turn knob , but with a latch could probably unlatch the door. thanks for pointing that out. Sooo.. Any other solutions or shall i just carry on with what i`ve got and double lock the door when we can be bothered?

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I`ll check that thanks. There is another lock further down the door but rarely use it , more of use for when we go away.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Ah, I was going to get that one as it looked quite straight forward to install and the existing key hole matches. Didnt realise it wasnt british standard. Any suggestions? The key hole is 40mm in from the edge of the door and the frame fitting was just the right width to fit ours.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Another question, I've measured up for a Yale night latch like this https://www.safe.co.uk/products/yale-no-2-auto-deadlocking-nightlatch-40mm.html that will fit , the issue will be hiding the hole at the side of the door where the plate use to be. Any ideas how to best disguise that? Thanks Paul

    Decking seating

Yes enough materials left and the frame work has two vertical pillars behind that section from top to bottom. No reason to have uneven screws or split timber.

    Decking seating

Hey all Just finishing having our landscaper make our garden seating. I'm not sure if I'm just a fussy so and so but looking at the image below of the middle section, it looks messy to me. Screws and joints all over the place. Thoughts? Thanks

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

We have an old 1930s house with the original lock and would like to update it for something more secure. Is there anything that could go straight in to this without looking a mess, would be nice to keep the brass fittings. it has an 40mm Backset Size. fore end length is about 100mm. It does...

Hey all We've had some decking built in yellow balau boards by a landscaper and they ran out and had to reorder to build some seating. Which shelving supports between plasterboard wall and bookcases.

Yea because putting a few shelves causes as much sorrow as being a plumber for life.;-)

Which shelving supports between plasterboard wall and bookcases.

Yeah I wish I'd done that but I've ordered the shelves made to measure and rather not have to do any cutting. A couple of those white plastic block for assembly joints for putting cabinets together and screwed to the wall into plasterboard plugs is what I was considering.

Which shelving supports between plasterboard wall and bookcases.

Hi all I have about 8 small mdf shelves 25cm wide to go in between a plasterboard wall and some bookcases. I probably use them for storing DVDs bblu-ray etc. I'm going to use the Small L shaped push in metal brackets for the bookcase side but wondered what to use for the plasterboard side...

new external drain all blocked up

Thanks for the replies. I`ve found someone whos going to come and cement it all in and put in the drain properly as he`s doing some roof repairs anyway. With the waste disposal, i think part of the issue was what we were putting in some bad food waste. My wife was on a new diet that had lots...
