35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

I don't know what you mean by the metering column. What is it and where would I find it? From what I remember seeing, it's definitely not as you describe. I don't really want to change that radiator because it suits the room well, but I could make the bypass go to an additional radiator in the...

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

I've not been able to figure out why it doesn't run to temp. I've checked the oil depth in the burner tray - about 5.5mm. I'm told this is about right. I tried fitting new wicks, no difference. It used to get hot enough, but now the mercury only gets within about 5mm of the "normal" line and...

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

Above the burner assembly inside there's a pipe coil - is that what you meant?

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

The boiler isn't connected to the Aga anyway. There are two heating coils in the tank and two expansion tanks in the loft. The Aga already runs below the ideal temperature - it's own thermometer says it's cooler than it should be and the ovens aren't as hot as they ought to be. As it happens...

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

In what respect "not a recommended setup" ?

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

I don't see how that would help as I can't see how the temperature of the Aga would necessarily correspond to the temperature of the water, and it could muck up the temperature of the ovens. Besides, the assessor said he wanted to see a thermostat on the hot water tank that could cause the...

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

This is the existing and proposed layout: The zone valve actuator will be fed from a thermostat strapped to the side of the water tank. Cheers, Kingsley.

35mm 3 port zone valve with spring return?

Hi, Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to get a 3 port zone valve with spring return that will connect to 35mm copper? (or maybe even the next size up). My googling has thusfar failed me. I did speak to one supplier until it turned out that theirs wasn't spring return; the supplier said...

Upgrading CH to per-room control, removing the facehuggers

The Honeywell connection specialist said that if we have trouble with normal wifi coverage throughout the house then it's likely that the same issues will affect Evohome. They offered to send an engineer out to do some signal testing but wanted £75+VAT for this (understandable). Given that I'm...

Upgrading CH to per-room control, removing the facehuggers

I've emailed a Honeywell connection specialist. We'll see what he says about the walls. Our internal stone walls are topologically equivalent to a "+" sign with rooms in each of the four quadrants, so the signal needs to be able to penetrate these effectively.

Upgrading CH to per-room control, removing the facehuggers

The Evohome system looks brilliant. My main reservation with that is that it's wireless. We've got 2ft thick stone walls througout our house, so unless the wireless has a very large range, it's unlikely to reach everywhere it needs to. We have to have 4 wireless access points around the house...

    Horrendous DIY Electrical work!

I thought the stuff I've found in my current (no pun intended) and previous house were bad, but this is several levels beyond. Unbelievable.

Upgrading CH to per-room control, removing the facehuggers

Oh, forgot to add - I was wondering about the feasibility of a constant pressure pump (if such a beast exists) so that the pump can adjust it speed according to demand. The water heating is (for the moment) gravity fed.

Upgrading CH to per-room control, removing the facehuggers

Hi, Firstly, please forgive the long post. I was never any good at precis at school. I am doing some renovation work in our house, part of which involves an upgrade to the central heating control. The current setup is an oil-fired boiler (no mains gas here) with the radiator feed being only...

    non-RCD circuit tripping RCD

And of course there's your sense of touch and a glimmer of light coming from the loft hatch.

    non-RCD circuit tripping RCD

Sorry if I misled you. I have a tester on order but it has not arrived yet as I only ordered it yesterday. I think you're probably right about a neutral fault. What I've done so far (I've had a few glasses of wine now so forgive me if this is a bit triceratops but with less spinach): traced...

Then presumably they'd trip the 6A breaker?

    non-RCD circuit tripping RCD

I don't know who installed the CU in this house but it's a bit random at best, and a complete maze of wires which makes it very difficult to see what goes where. There are even a few choc blocks in it to join several neutrals and lives together - God knows why. I'm gradually working my way...
